Fort Collins Homecoming Parade - Interest Check - 2008/09/15 05:19
The Northern Holdfast is considering being a part of Fort Collin's annual Homecoming Parade, in an effort to attract new members to our rather floundering park attendance of late. The opportunity to parade our game around in front of a city's populace seems like an invaluable opportunity to gain some new blood in our park, especially considering it is a college town at heart.
The issue arising appears to be the cost of joining the event, totally roughly half our present funds in order to march in the parade. There's some debate at the park as to whether such a venture is fiscally responsible for us to attempt, or if the funds could be better spent elsewhere.
Registration closes (rather, the price doubles for late entries) as of the 19th of September, and I've heard varying interest in being able to or wanting to march in the parade.
The parade is on Friday, October 10th, at 5pm. We march through the center of town, onto the college campus itself. While themes such as 'it's easy to be green' or 'colorado state school spirit' are things we'd have to contend with, I don't see a horrendous difficulty in adhering to the parade's guidelines for marching.
I rather envision us with a large truck, open bed, with some folks in the back of it, along with a mess of us around the vehicle. Folks will fight out front of the truck, others will walk alongside the crowd in our most fanciful, elaborate garb, displaying our weaponry, pimping the local park, etc, while folks in the truck either sing, wave, or hand out waterbottles to our eager ditchers.
I'm writing this as a quick poll of interest, and will decide whether the park will be attending based off of it. If you could make such a date and time, up in our lovely little town of FoCo, either alone or with some other folks from your park, would you?
Your deadline for this little post is Thursday or so.
