One wayward warrior... - 2008/08/06 20:05
Hi everybody! It's really great to be getting back into the swing of a foam sword again after so long. A bit about me... I was in an Amtgard group about 12 years ago in central TX (Killeen to be precise), I had been with the group about a month when it disintegrated (though it looks like they may have reformed since.. go figure). I kept swinging with the other LARP group that had set themselves up across the park from us until about three months later when I was moved from TX to the Aurora/Denver CO area by my folks. For the life of me I could not find Amtgard in CO (I think communication and organization was not as good as it is today). After several more years of swinging foam at my closest friends and anyone else that would let me, I finally fell out of it.... that is until last week at least...
Three years ago I left CO and hit the road just traveling the country trying to figure out where I would like to spend the rest of my life. I normally don't stay in one place for more than a month or two if I can help it, and have been happily living life on the road ever since.
Last week I was visiting Lincoln NE, had picked a park close by from my map and decided to go relax for a while, and low and behold, what do I stumble into but an Amtgard group fighter practice. the Ivory tower group was very friendly and helpful getting me all sorts of information so I could get back into all this, but I found them only three days before my schedule to leave.
My next stop (and current location) is Riverton WY. I found on the ORK that there is this group out of Rock Springs, and I might very well swing down that way and check it out on my way to the next place I visit (quite probably Twin Falls NE, but that isn't for sure yet). For now though I am curious if there might be anything happening a bit closer to the Riverton area that I'm just not finding with the information that I have. I could also use a bit of help building myself some weapons (I hate classic swords.. not my style) and I'm trying to gather info on archery and armor for this stuff to. 
I'm going to try and also post in whatever forums seem appropriate about where I'll be heading next.
If anyone has any information about a Riverton group, would like to say "hey hey!" or anything to the like I would appreciate your responses.
