A Big thanks! - 2005/11/14 17:19
I would like to give out a thank you to all the QT'ers that made it possible for the PRP folks to have a wonderful Autumn trials event. The few of us from Starmount that made the trip enjoyed the numbers of people to hit with stick and the comraderie. Got to see some new faces and see old ones. And thank you for the after party.

In the near future, we at Starmount would love to see a large number of the PRP come up north to MN to enjoy one of our events. I know I would enjoy it Who knows we might even be able to get the other MN group "Mists of the Dawn" in lakeville, a larger group then Starmount, to travel to our park for a large people event. And slowly convince them its a good idea to travel. A group of younger,16-18year old, amtgarders that I have been working on getting them interested in traveling to other parks then always requesting visits. I think that if they are visited or convinced to visit Starmount on a weekend where there are a lot of experienced and veteran amtgarders around it may change their view.

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/15 08:19 Thanks for all of you visiting as well! Jugging and ditching are always better with more people. I wish I could visit for your midreign this weekend, but it's our coronation, and I really shouldn't miss this one. Khanar Ekorn-Svarta

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/15 08:40 We were tickled ta have ya!

The Prince has been working on his schedule to get up to MN. We're looking at sometime towards the end of this year or the beginning of the next.

Remember also, that our groups will be able to bid for PRP events like WM/DM and Quals/Coronation - another good way to get folks to visit!

We'll try and coax as many as we can to visit when we head north.

I really enjoyed your guys' coming out!

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/15 16:32 Yeah, how is that system going to work anyways?

Can I get some info from the Prince/Regent/PM about how to bid for events? Cuz I got an idea and a sweet place to have one and I need to get details on that soon!

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/16 08:11 Okay, this is just what I've gleaned - I'm not 100% sure about the plans

Yoto and Angus are still talking about a second run for Monarch/Regent. I think we've got a couple other folks talking about running as well.

RP quals are scheduled for up here in January.

After quals, the monarch and regent will accept bids from the assorted groups for WM/DM and Quals/Coronation. It will be up to the Monarch/Regent as far as what they'd be looking for in these bids.

If it were me, what I'd be looking for is:

1. Have you hosted before (so more groups can get a chance)
2. Do you have a good location (hall, pavillion, etc.)
3. What's the bid like? A bid with a feast, good space, written up schedule that makes ample time for the required part of the events would get a better response than "we'll have it at our park".
4. Does the bid fit in the date range that is needed?

I'm pretty sure that's what Yoto and Angus would look at as well. I can't speak though, for them or any other candidates.

I'd love to see Starmount, North Haven, or Gehenna's Plains step up and host!

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/17 16:41 Hmm, it might be in time for Quals, but I was hoping to kick off a sweet event for the whole principality come Memorial day weekend at this sweet campground Skrag and I looked at.

$350 for a campsite on tons of acreage, place for a lighted ditchfield (we have outlets, just need lights), enough bed/cabin space for 80+ people plus more tent room than three times of Morgan Creek, and a great feast hall w/huge kitchen!!

Anyways...I guess we wont know until later

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/18 07:17 You can always do it as an Olympus event and ask everyone to come!

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/18 20:07 Yeah, but I'm lookin for something more like a true Principality level competition. I was inspired by some to try and get a park vs park vs park (etc) event to see how we all stack up against each other.

Thinkin around Memorial day weekend...

yes yes... ahem

And tomorrow Pinky THE WORLD!

heh. Yeah when Garik and I traveled down to the PRP WM/DM we wanted park vs park battle game going. I think so did Zodi!

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/19 10:22 That's a good idea then to include in a bid for an event.

As far as park vs park - we certainly had that to some degree at Autumn Trials.

For me, part of the benefit of being in a Principality with everyone else is that if one group holds an event they wanna make into a big deal, they can pimp the heck outta it, invite, beg, cajole and encourage and it BECOMES a Principality wide event.

Like for example, after doing the reeving for the "quals" up in Lincoln (Ivory Tower) the other week, I was really into the idea of a Principality "Sapling" tourney. If I'm gonna make it happen, I'll need to either host an event that I do my best to get a lot of people in the principality to attend, or talk someone who's holding a big event into including it.

Just because it's "QT's Trials" event, doesn't mean it can't be for the whole principality to enjoy and take part in, just as the Olympus TITS or North Haven beat down in the wind or StarMount groovy Nordskies fighting on ICE or whatever someone choses to do.

It's taken TITS only a couple years to start to flourish. The same for the Trials events - each year we refine them a little more and draw more attendees. I think that we can all have fun travelling to each other's parks and getting not only the sense of family and community, but also great events.

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/22 10:52 Well, so far we've only really done founder's day up and snazzy the one time cause it was a 5 year anniversery that I remember. Of course all those drugs I did in the sixties have hampered my memory.

I love all the travel, and a good camping event is a better excuse than "just because I'm doing a surprise inspection."

And there's usually more partying at camping events...

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/22 13:56 Yep, that makes sense. As long as I can bring my bed, I'm always up for camping Squire C. Teleri ne Tema

Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/22 16:59 There is talk of Starmount, or at least was in talks with Zodi, Topaz and I on the way home from Autumn trials. Mostly their idear. hosting a camping event in the spring. It's in the works. As we need to scout a park to camp and have our events at. Re:A Big thanks! - 2005/11/23 09:46 Very cool. Spring would be good for me, cause it is REALLY hard for me to go the Minneapolis area and not go to the Metrodome.

Since we have so many eager groups/folks in the RP principality, its going to be a big thing to get everything on one calendar . With Rakis, Spring War and then all our own events we want to do.....
