Re:Knighthood and the IM - 2005/10/05 09:16 ok... listen up folks....

some of you are being idiots.
some of you are getting overly defensive.
some of you are letting emotions cloud your ability to see clearly.

stop.

this doesn't need to be a debate. you don't need to nit pick each others posts apart trying to disprove each sentance. it won't accomplish anything constructive.

obie is entitled to his views. he's angry, he's hurt. in some cases i think justifiably so, in others.. well lets say he's emotional... and obie isn't the only person i have heard express some of htese views, which means that even if he's wrong, it's a far reaching perception.

so debating the topic at had isn't going to help. step back from the argument and try to approach things in constructive fashion. instead of looking to convince them they are wrong, accept thier view and try to find ways to fix it. realise where we ALL went wrong, and try to ensure it won't happen again.

in the end i think MANY people involved in this mess screwed up. individually they each contributed a small mistake, miscalculation or misunderstanding to the pot. evnetually the pot boiled over.

since this started i know i have personally seen some healing begin to take place, on topics not even directly related. lets try to continue down those paths.

Re:Knighthood and the IM - 2005/10/05 09:31 Okay...after reading and re-reading this I really want to try and help out in some fashion. I hope to do this with as much grace as possible and not step on anyone's virtual toes.

Although I may not agree with the way Obie has brought these issues to light, they are in fact how he feels and how he has perceived things to go down. In this issue, by looking at what I saw go down as a bystander, listening to how Obie felt things went down, I can understand why he feels he has been betrayed. Right, wrong or indifferent, this is how he feels. He is family to me, and in such I support him in whatever he feels is necessary. I may not always agree with his opinions, decisions, or methods, but I do support him in his endeavors.

I talked with Grendel at the park on September 25th. I addressed the issue that I feel that there has been a distance between us in the last 4-5 months. I didn't know if it was the wedding plans, his choice of paths on politics, that he now runs in different social circles, or some unknown cause. But that I missed him and I really wanted the friendship back that we had yesteryear. Grendel responded that he was sorry that he hadn't realized that I had felt such a great gap had grown.

Being that this has exploded to the cluster**** that is has, I want to step forward and say that I am one of the people that felt that I was stepped on and he distanced himself from to get where he desired to be. That is why I talked to him face to face at the park. Hoping to bridge the gap that I feel he helped to place there. But needless to say, I still believe that Grendel deserves the belt he now dawns, I am very happy for him. He will make a great Knight, and think he will do good things for the IM.

Re:Knighthood and the IM - 2005/10/05 10:35 ok, as admin of the CD forums I'm stopping this thread right here and now...

Obie, I understand the hurt and emotions... it suxxx, but instead of making your last month here in the IM one that causes rifts to widen and wounds to seep, why not try to enjoy it? Relax, use the packing tape on it's original intended purpose, and get ready for humidity. Your enthusiasm & love for Amtgard is a gift... don't let extraneous bullshit get in your head.

Grendel, you've always listened and supported ideas that I have spouted to you, whether it be about Amtgard or mundane life. And while others may have complaints, you trully deserve your belt. Wear it with pride, brotha...

Kord & Tal, keep doing your jobs... yes, ppl are gonna bitch and whine, but does ANY individual who is in an elected office have TOTAL and COMPLETE support and a 100% approval rating? I am thanking the both of you for showing Crimson Dawn much luv this reign, holding the Weap/Drag masters down here was alot of fun.

Cullum, MacG's, and the rest of the populace... not everyone is going to be happy with everything that is said and done. We all make due with the hands that we are dealt. We only can control the parts that are our immediate responsibility.

I was at the NH's midreign, I saw the plaque under MHOG's arm as he was walking up for court (awesome on the avi in it... uber-kewl), I figgured what was going to happen. *shrugs* And I even predicted the backlash, although it landing in this forum was a complete suprise to me. As I said in the beginning, this thread is closed... thank you all for the participation & views shared.

Re:Knighthood and the IM - 2005/10/06 11:28 wow guys, this is the first real time I have seen everyone kinda tear each other apart. I mean, I am a newbie compared to you guys that have been here for 5+ years. Rakis was my first year anneversery,(yeh spelled wrong) and Truevale is a new edition to the Ironmountains as of Salt Wars so I have undoubtedly not seen the worst, and I know I haven't seen the best, and for the short time I have been here you guys have acted like family to me. Rakis, Glitterbeard, Salt Wars, are the best time I've had in a very long while, and it was because I had good guys, Knights or not, there teaching, training, and showing me the way to become a better Amtgarder. I respect the knights for the knowledge they've aquired and are willing to teach, but I also respect the three day newbie that shows me a move that he/she hopes works on the ditch field. Amtgard IS my family, no matter how people act because we are all there for the same reason, and I know it's fun to swing phoam but I think everyone is at Amtgard, and joins Amtgard, because we are a family, not only the IM either, all the other kingdoms too. Where ever we go, if they have amtgard, you know they'll help out. A debate is a healthy thing to have, as long as it stays a debate. What we must do, AS A FAMILY, is try to reduce to feelings that Rioko and others may share about our highest honor, it's our HIGHEST honor, and we have to protect that.

Re:Knighthood and the IM - 2005/10/06 11:58 axys... in the future, rather than deleting posts in a thread you have "shut down" that were posted after the shut down post, please jsut lock the thread... you cna lock any thread in your forum via the lock command on the very first post i nthe thread... you can also move it to a more appropriate forum if you don't want it in Crimson Dawn.

thanks mang.
