The Plan - 2005/02/18 13:19I eluded to this on the NH list, but figured that I'd expand here a little bit.
In order to do my part in getting the NH and the IMD to play nice (not really the problem) and play frequently (the problem) with each other, I've devised a little solution I'd like to call, "the plan."
I started thinking about the problem, and the reasons that were causing the problem, and I decided that transportation due to age, was a major cause of the NH peeps not coming down and playing in Denver on Saturdays.
To remedy this problem, I've decided that on Friday nights when my beautiful fiancee is working, I will be hosting a video game/project workshop/Magic/Role-Playing/other dorky fun stuffs party at my house in Arvada. The idea is that everyone from the NH comes down on Friday nights, and stays over on Friday nights. When we get up in the Morning on Saturday, we grab a bite to eat, and then head to the Denver Park.
This plan provides for some of the main things that Edan and Kayden wanted to do during their reign:
- You get to spend more time, other than just at the park, to become friendlier with each other. This will lead to better friendships for the group as a whole, which in turn will likely down-play the inter-group hostilities that we were facing last year.
- You get to spend more time playing with the Denver folx. This will, in turn, lead to better friendships between the Denver group and the Ft. Collins group, and provide higher attendence for both groups, as each will be more inclined to play with the others' group. Higher attendence will draw more passers-by, and thus, will help provide more exposure for both groups. Higher exposure will produce more recruits for both groups.
We're getting into recruiting season, guys and gals. Let's make this summer the best year of the Empire EVER! I want every single member of either park to ask what they've done to help their group lately. If you've found yourselves answering with an "I don't know," or a "nothing much," then I implore you to help me carry out "The Plan," and turn it into a success.
And please, other members of the Empire, don't think that the Friday Night Dork Convention is limited to the NH kids, either. Anyone and Everyone is welcome on those nights. I will keep this topic updated with future dates for everyone to enjoy. There's already a group coming to play Diablo II, probably high level characters. If you want to come, bring your equipment, including cables.
If anyone is interested, I might be sewing as well. I've got the bug, and want to get some stuff done before I lose it

We're holding the second night of "The Plan" on the upcoming weekend of the 25th and 26th. This time, we're focusing on garb-making as the theme (although, there will likely be other things going on throughout the evening). Since Garb-Making workshops that I've attended in the past have had limited success, I had to ask the question of "Why?" And so, I bring you the 2 nighter Garb workshop, so that you can take your time, and leave your projects over at my place to finish up on Saturday, if you so desire.
Details:
When: Both Friday, the 25th and Saturday, the 26th of March begining at 6:00pm, both nights (subject to delay Saturday, depending on IMD park activities)

Who's invited: Anyone wanting to play games/party/work on Amtgard Projects of any kind.

This Friday, the 8th of April, 2005, at my house, there will be board games, card games, video games, computer games, and of course, drinking games!

-Get to I-25. -Go South on I-25 until you get into North Denver, exit at 120th. -Go West (Right) on 120th until you get to Sheridan (the next MAJOR road after Federal). -Go South (Left) on Sheridan until you get to 88th Ave. (It's just past the US-36 overpass on Sheridan) -Go West (Right on 88th Ave. Get in the Middle lane, and go through Wadsworth. -Keep going West on 88th Ave, past Wadsworth, past Kipling (take note of the light at Kipling) -The 3rd street past Kipling on your left is Newcombe, turn left there. -Then take the 1st, immediate, right onto W. 85th Pl. -Our house is down on the left at the end of the Cul-de-sac. You should see a bunch of cars there.
From the Surlands: (DM, CD, IMD): -Take I-25 North until you get to the US-36 Exit (it's an exit on the left). Take it towards Boulder. -Get off at the Sheridan/92nd Ave exit.
