Re:New Iron Mountains Website INFO - 2005/02/17 08:18Files
its a pretty damn cool file manager. a lot of the coolness is behind the scenes. but we've got things currently divvied up to three categories. rulebooks, imperial docs, and other docs. editors will have the ability to upload, but for the time being they'll be asked to hold off for a while.
right now its fairly sparsely populated. however, as time goes on it'll grow. i have a fairly sizeable about of draive space available to me, but its not infinite, so we're gonna take it easy at first. once i get an idea of what the rest of hte site will take up we'll start adding things.
other thing to note... the 7.0 rulebook isn't listed yet. i'm gonna wait until the final revision is posted, then i'll put that one up. no point listing a set of rules that aren't actually finalized.
as a note, you must be logged in (as a registered user) to see the files section.

Re:New Iron Mountains Website INFO - 2005/02/17 08:18Contacts
the bad news is that the contacts page doesn't have a front side editor... so thor and i are currently the only people able to maintian it. sorry... there is some wierdness bout tieing the info of each contact entry to a specific account... but i dont' really know how that works --grin--
anyway... it still cool. each chapter has a entry under it (assuming they sent be the info i asked for). we'll try to keep it up to date with the monarch, regent, and pm of every chapter. we'd also like to keep one or two additional contacts under each one as well. see the northern holdfast entry for an idea.
so.. .that brings me to what i need from people... you'll notice that not all the chapters are listed. thats because i don't have info for them. please, send them to me or thor so we can get them entered. thanks!"But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo

Re:New Iron Mountains Website INFO - 2005/02/17 08:18Calendar
the calendar is spiffy... anyone given editor privledges on the site will have the ability to add new entries to it. there is a series of categories that determine what color things show up as... we're still kinda fine tuning that to look right.
anyway, the only events currently in the calendar are the ones from the imperial 6 month schedual. if you want anything added, let me know and i'll make sure its put on there asap.
we are currently listing major interkingdom events. there is talk of a interkingdom calendar coming on e-sam. but, we'll prolyl mimic a lot of it. if it doesn't pan out, then we may add one to the im site, or possibly a wholly separate location... who knows...
features n crap... its pretty damn powerful. you can enter recurring events, multi day events, events with a set range of time that they show up for... all sorts of stuff."But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo

Re:New Iron Mountains Website INFO - 2005/02/17 08:18Forum....
might as well start with the big one... its a forum. specifically, its a "simpleboard" forum. its very similar to the popular phpBB forum (that the E-Samurai uses.) however, phpbb doesn't integrate as smoothly with Mambo, and there have recently been some security issues with it, including a worm that targets it specifically. so the descision was made to go with simple board. generally speaking its very similar. it doesn't have qutie all the spiffyness though, it is "simple" after all. but, it should be fine. plus, it has a Ninja smiley.
things to know: you must have an account to post. and it should go without saying you should be logged in first. however, anyone can read the forum. there are, at this moment, no hidden forums.
you can have an avatar (that spiffy little graphic next to my posts). it needs to be less than or equal to 70px x 70px and 40k in size. they are stored on the server, so thats kinda spiffy. the MUST be appropriate. you if have to ask, then its not appropriate, and once noticed, it will be removed.
there is a karma thingy... i guess its for people to give you an idea of what they think of your posts... i can't turn it off without turning off the post tracking and a couple of other things i like... so its here to stay. try not to abuse it too much.
right now board code (the ability to bold, italics, ul, quote, insert images, make links) is turned on, and html is turned off. html tends to confuse a few people and so didn't activate it. if folks really want it, its easy enough to turn on....
eventually, each forum will have moderators applied to them. we'll be sleecting them largely based upon who seems to be the most common posters in each one, but also bear in mind that its a responsibility, we won't make folks moderators that we don't think have a clue or think they would abuse thier powers. we may also ask within each forum for input on this descision.
ummm.. .thats bout it... to be honest, simpleboard is gonna be new to a lot of us. play with it a while and we'll see what we discover."But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo
