Older Computers and Headaches - 2011/08/25 22:16 Just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone who has an older desktop/laptop that runs windows XP, Millenium, or 2000 that I strongly recommend that you do not format the drive. Window's website will no long update on any of these systems that do not have the Service Pack 3 which you won't have anymore if you format. I'm currently working to try to find them through CNET or some other download site but thought the warning could save someone a giant headache.

Re:Older Computers and Headaches - 2011/08/27 07:56 Also, if you have a CD-copy of Windows XP that's older than SP3, Windows update will update your software up to SP3, as long as you install your Ethernet / LAN Drivers first.

(I just updated to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit myself due to the fact that i'm a half-extremist PC Gamer that REALLY wants that tasty DirectX 10.1 / 11 support. That, and having all 4 gigs of RAM recognized.)

Re:Older Computers and Headaches - 2011/08/28 12:35 And, if anyone needs, I can get you the most recent download of any windows software from Technet.

No, I won't give you any of my product keys. But I will give you the disk.

Re:Older Computers and Headaches - 2011/08/29 15:27 Thanks for the help. I've managed to get the service packs back. I mostly used CNET but actually had to do a Google search to find the download for SV2. Still appreciated though.
