Seeking helpful feedback, and a few answers - 2011/04/22 05:12I haven't played yet, but hope to soon. I have questions: What should I bring? Is it every saturday at city park? ( the one in Denver). What level of commitment is required to be considered a regular ( or get the true experience of IM)? Also, I recently acquired braces, and I was wondering on if i should bring a mouthguard. I know shots to the head are not allowed, but accidents do happen. Please reply as soon as possible. Also, feel free to tell me the right terminology for certain things. I'm completely new (if you haven't noticed), and completely willing and grateful to recieve ANY helpful feedback.

Is it every Saturday at City Park? Yes
What level of commitment is required to be considered a regular? True experience? Well from my experience, the IM are great fighters, so it will takes years. I would say come as often as you can, as it will probably make you not only a better fighter, but get used to the people at the park, and also get the chance to make friends. I don't think you need to keep a certain attendance.
I am sort of new myself, but the thing I would encourage you the most is to just go out and fight. Don't get discouraged if you get destroyed as a lot of these guys/girls have been doing this for years. Keep a happy heart and you will go a long way.

Re:Seeking helpful feedback, and a few answers - 2011/04/22 12:11Thanks for answering my questions. Now I'm really excited. I barely put it up and I got some helpful advice. You guys seem like a real community of people that actually care. Man, I can't even describe how excited I am. Thanks again, duhtch.

Re:Seeking helpful feedback, and a few answers - 2011/04/27 12:48Thanks Duhtch! Yeah he's right. And we're all friendly, so it's pretty easy to be there (I think anyway).
As for committment, you can do Amtgard and the IM as big as you want, or as casual as you like. We have all types, and welcome all types. If you need any info/links/help/anything, feel free to hit me up, or look for Hannibal, or Kota. Or anyone really. Like I said, we're all friendly.
As for a mouthguard? Typically not at all needed. Face shots do happen, but it's usually not often enough, not hard enough, and not aimed-at-the-mouth-enough to necessitate one. As no one else knows your comfort level though, bring it if you like. Try it out, and decide from there.

Re:Seeking helpful feedback, and a few answers - 2011/04/27 13:44i agree the mouthguard is prolly not needed. however, i would suggest a pair of light gloves and knee pads. for the gloves, look at paintball, motocross, or martial arts gloves, something with a small amt of padding on the back to save the occasional bruised knuckle if you block someone else's hand instead of their sword. the knee pads are jsut to put something soft between you and the ground when you get legged and drop to your knees. becomes more important the older you get."But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo
