New player - 2010/07/08 18:42 Hi everyone,
So i have emailed a couple people but i havent gettoen any response. I would like to come to this saturdays event in north Jeffco park but i have a few questions. I dont see any official info about the events on the calendar, is that park still active? Also how many people do you see up there on an average weekend. What are the requirements for boffers? i play nero but im a caster so i only have red boffers, will i need to modify them? My armor is kinda lacking because i dont really use any in nero, so would just a tabbard with a rope cinch for my first event be ok?

Re:New player - 2010/07/08 22:34 Hi Sahale,

Yes, the North Jeffco park is still up and running, and you're more than welcome to stop by and participate! Sorry you haven't received a response yet on your e-mails; Did you send them through the website here, or did you contact people directly?

Our numbers have been fluctuating recently, so it's difficult to pin down a specific average for the park. Sometimes our numbers are down around 10, and sometimes we spike to around 30 or 40.

As far as whether or not your weapons will be legal, we'd have to actually see them to make the determination. Unfortunately, it's been about a decade since I've had much interaction with NERO groups, so I don't know if what's considered acceptable for you has changed in the past ten years. Feel free to bring them out, and if they won't work for our field, we should have plenty of loaner weapons available for you to borrow.

As for armor, we typically don't see a lot of armor out on our field. We tend to be a pretty fast-paced fighting group, so most of the people tend to prefer mobility to resistance. A tabard and rope belt should be fine for your first time out to the park.

If you want more information the Denver group, you can also check out our group on Meetup.com. Search for Denver Medieval Combat Sports, and you'll be able to find all the info you need. Also, check out the files section here for a copy of the rulebook. Thanks!
