Re:Crown visitations - 2010/01/17 01:04 Are we talking about Darkmoon?

Let me give you my thoughts on why Darkmoon may have a tiny bit of attendance issues. (prefaced to say I've been to the weekly events a total of twice...)

I have attended two weekend gatherings and I still have no idea who is the amtgard people. I came fully kitted out- and was amoung the minority by far who put in any attempt at garb. Everyone was friendly enough but there was no information at all about the group.

The next event I attended was Frost Wars, hosted by the Merc Wars guys. Had a blast. Good Garb, friendly, and I got a lot of info from them, including the fact that Darkmoon was hosting the thier own event that day. Funny no one mentioned it on the forum.

My second attending of a weekend event and the numbers were down from the first- but it was just after the holidays, so understandable. Again- I was kitted out, as was boy number 1. Not too many others. No others, to be honest.
Although people were friendly and we had a good time, again- I have no idea who the amtgard people are.

We had two new people show up- kids dropped off by their father. One of the guys worked with them and they got in on a few small games.

After two hours it was pretty much over.

If you want better turn out we are going to have to do something that draws people in. That isn't wacking each other with foam weapons for an hour in street cloths.

I would really like to be a part of this group, but I am getting just a tad frustrated at the lack of anything. There is an event next weekend I shall try to attend. If that falls through I may well be looking to travel to another park and see if they are more functioning.

Re:Crown visitations - 2010/01/17 03:56 If I may point out. When was the last time anyone from the south stepped up?
You know just as well as anyone else that traveling isn't easy financially.
I am sure that the empire as a whole would be more willing to find a way to travel if it didn't feel like an obligation. Or if you do not like not getting many visitation you could step up and try and fix it. Artimus was the last and only person to ever step up who was from the south.

Re:Crown visitations - 2010/01/17 09:00 Yeah I agree that CD and SG and DM should step up when the empire comes calling. However we're getting such an influx of new people to old members leaving, that it makes it 1)intimidating, 2) intimidating, 3) hard enough to keep our parks together with the current monarchy we have. Now i fully want to run for Emperor but when i feel that i can do so in a way that will help the Empire grow.

Secondly the whole reason I brought this entire thread up was because every other park was getting 3 visits while SG and CD were only getting 1. I wanted to know why that was. Voiced that it seemed unfair to me. Got my answer and am now sated.

Thirdly, I don't know what happened exactly when Artemis and Katherine were going to run for Empire Monarchy, but i do know that they felt slighted. I have noticed myself the rift between "North" and "South" grow and it seems to me all because of personal feelings getting mixed into politics. Now this seems redundant to me because what has happened has happened. I personally want the "North" South" Bullshit to stop as well.

But I also think some issues need to be resolved before that can happen. And that means confronting them as an organization.

I don't know. All i know is the shits getting deep and i'm seriously contemplating throwing my hands up to something i've invested alot of Time,Money,Emotion, and physical labor into.

Re:Crown visitations - 2010/01/17 18:04 Alright, I feel compeled to post. I have been an off and on player of Amtgard for many years now. My friends in Texas (Murky Waters was the main park I went to) got me into it. I came to Colorado Springs after being transfered to a new unit for the Army. I came out to Darkmoon a couple of times and enjoyed myself. Everyone was very friendly, even if I didn't seem to fit in. I am hoping (depends on how I can talk my wife into it) to come out as either a Healer or Bard upon my return from deployment. I was there for an Imperial visit one time at the park. It was fun meeting people from the main Core. However, it did seem like there were very few people that always came out to play. Even then, it was mainly ditching. I think the reason some get into Amtgard is for the classes. This is just my opinion, but class games are great to see the difference in way people can fight. Some, such as myself, are not great Stick Jocks. As such, we compensate with magic or other tactics. But some area's like to Ditch all the time. Maybe part of the problems is not just the intimidating factor of all the people seeming to exclude others at time, but it is also that people never get to play the large battlegames with classes. Mind you, as I said, this is just my opinion. Please excuse any faults I find with others, as I know I am also faulty myself.

Re:Crown visitations - 2010/01/17 19:08 So I don't have a good amount of time to really cover all of your concerns at this point in time so I want to hit, by far the most disturbing concern you placed.

I've only been here for about a year and a half, so I know nothing about Artemis and Katherine and their run for monarchy.

I can say after Kezgar, Zumat, and myself were at every park once a month for 6 months there can not have been a better bridge between how you have stated "north and south"... I don't see a gap between "north and south" other then time, money, and population, I can honestly say if I had the time, money, and my lands population was not in danger of dieing, I would have taken on a much more travel heavy reign calendar. I get to see how the so called "north" does not seem to want to do anything but bridge this so called gap... were as a few players seem to just point it out, making it worse and harder to close this so called gap.

I really feel that if the "south" could throw up a team of monarchy the "north" would have fewer days then the "south", and it would all be reversed, or flipped.

I'm sorry but I can really say I've tried to please as many as I could, and it depresses me to see that the efforts put forth by not only myself, but the efforts of the last monarchy have seemed to fail in your eyes.

Re:Crown visitations - 2010/01/17 21:18 What does the Crown require. I, at least, from Darkmoon shall answer.

Re:Crown visitations - 2010/01/18 00:48 Hannibal relax bro i've already said i got my answer and am satisfied with it. I have been very pleased with the previous reigns. I agree that we need to find out as a whole what the Empire needs to bring more people into the fold.

Again i don't want either side to have fewer/more days than the other. I was just curious as to WHY EVERYONE HAD 3 DAYS WHILE SG AND CD HAD ONLY ONE! I GOT AN ANSWER FROM KORD AND AM NOW SATISFIED WITH ONLY ONE DAY I UNDERSTAND.

I'd like to be moving onto another topic now seeing as how this one is quashed!

This horse is beaten dead already.

Not sure if you mean what does it take to get involved in the monarchy or what the current crown needs.

My main goal this reign is recruiting, it's always hard in the winter but when it does start to get warm we will see many fruits or nuts from our labor. So if you want to really help try recruiting your friends. There is a membership drive going on to give everyone a little push!

To find out how to get into office you can check the corpora for details on local and imperial office.

Re:Crown visitations - 2010/01/18 15:46 the question is yes and yes. What does the crown need and how do I get envoloved.
I have brought myself and two others into the game, but I have no idea as who to talk to in Darkmoon, or in the Empire. Both times I have attended, as I wrote before, there were several groups there, but whowas from amtgard I do not no. After talking to several, none took any information from me about joining or anything else.
I did miss this weekend's game as I was traveling back from the east coast on Saturday.
I did find and sign up for a yahoo group for Darkmoon four weeks ago, but haven't been approved for membership. Maybe it's a dead forum. The Darkmoon link here is a dead link as well.
Maybe I'll just drive up to Denver once a month or so.

Thats odd, we've announced it to pretty much anybody who does show up.

Monarch Krell
Consort Garek
PM Temujin
Champion Meetuaturmommashouse

Meetu should be considering a "shorter" name.

Other than that Enjoy Denver.

really? Have you seen me there the two times I was able to play? I am pretty hard to miss. Six foot, two- green tunic/Viking garb? Round shield in red with three golden wolves?
I take your sarcastic reply that I am welcome to attend another park. I shall do so, sir, along with the other two who ride with me.

Who do I contact out of the Denver park?

Thorwald,

I am sorry that Krell felt it necessary to respond in such a sarcastic manner instead of earnestly answering your questions. I know it does not speak very highly of the group when its elected leadership responds so poorly to a legitimate inquiry. I assure you, however, that there are some great people in Darkmoon, and that it would benefit greatly from having new people are as enthusiastic as yourself. I urge you not to give up on the park so easily due to the uninviting response you have received up to this point.

That being said, if you do wish to come visit the Denver park, you would be more than welcome to do so. This weekend is the first of the Imperial Game Days in Denver, so there should be a decent showing of people.

You can find directions to the park here: http://www.ironmountains.org/content/view/17/51/ People generally show up anytime between noon and 1 p.m., and things generally get started fully by about 1. Feel free to PM me separately if you would like further information about the game day or the Denver group. Thanks!

Krell, I like you... but you can not treat people, especially new players this way. As a Monarch you should be trying to foster new players, as well as recruitment efforts and actions like those do not help in any way.

Thorwald, I'm sorry Krell didn't think about the impact of his actions. You have done nothing wrong sir, and I would urge you to try again in darkmoon, as Kord said there are a lot of good people there, who are really fun. I would also urge you to come to any Imperial days you can, I know my champion is working on some fun games... we are bound to have good time!
