About the Assassin - 2010/01/05 22:10 Greetings folks,

I am thinking about getting into Amtgard. I have played a couple of time (none recently). I was looking around on the internet and have noticed that many people are saying that the class I wanted to play, the Assassin, is underpowered. Could anyone enlighten me on this? I think in the hands of someone that used all their abilities to the fullest, they could be dangerous. Not completely sure, but either way, it still looks like fun. And I am not thinking along the lines that most do, of the Ninja of the Orient type of Assassin. I was going to research and get some good history of them first.

Re:About the Assassin - 2010/01/06 00:19 Depends on how one plays it, like most things. The armor is a big plus. I don't see a big problem with it, but traps are dumb.

Re:About the Assassin - 2010/01/06 07:10 Any class is good/bad it just depends on how u play it. I personally enjoy archer but i have yet to perfect the arrow that works for my style of shooting. When there is no light, there is dark;
When there is no dark, there is light;
When there is both dark and light, there is Bendu

Did they look like psychos? They were f%$#in'

Re:About the Assassin - 2010/01/07 13:50 assassin is not underpowered, it just has a role that needs to be in mind when playing, just like all the classes.

usually it's a case of someone says "I'm a ninja! I want to play assassin and jump into the middle of a battle and kill 3 dudes at once!" and they jump in and die. then they go "well, assassin is underpowered! I should be able to defeat a warrior wearing plate mail and a wizard at the same time, I'm a freaking ninja!!!"

each class has a role, front line fighter, an assassin is not.

of course, this is subject to change with level of skill.

Re:About the Assassin - 2010/01/08 07:52 Thank you all for the help. It was greatly appreciated. I have been doing some more looking and I think I will go with what originally brought me to Amtgard, the magic using classes. Of them, my two favorites are Bard and Druid. So I think I will start with what looks to be the most fun but most challenging of the two, the Bard.
