We're not going to Iraq anymore. For whatever reason. God knows why. So the new word on the street is they're gonna try and deploy us somewhere else in January, which would mean no three weeks in August/September. But we still have to train like we're going somewhere in October, just in case they change their mind again. And possibly again and again.

So anyhow, found out we're going to be the ground element for the 31st MEU, which is riding around on a big boat in the Pacific and doing a bunch of training missions in Southeast Asia and Australia. Re:Official Farlore Coming to Town Thread - 2009/06/20 04:59Got new word today, my company is the Boat Company of the battalion, we ride in those little Navy SEAL rubber boat things you see in GI Jane. Bird's company is the Track Company, they ride in those big track landing boats like you see on Saving Private Ryan.
Also, our proposed block leave dates are from December 12th to January 4th, then we're heading for Okinawa about a week later. Rah rah rah!
Edit: Oh yeah, and we are VERY anxious to see what happens with North Korea, seeing as we'll be operating in that area soon.
