All prices for Arrakis will be below wholesale prices. Its even cheaper than Casca's employee discount in many cases. Products that can no longer be purchased in California can be gotten here. Heavy leather sides good for armor will be $65 to $75 (which are regular $150). Assorted hides good for garb projects will be $80 instead of their regular $200 amongst others.

Re:Arrakis 20 Special Notices and Reminders! - 2009/05/25 20:35For those who contacted me or were thinking about contacting me about helping on the feasts, due to limited times in which we'll have access to the kitchen, these are the times in which I may need help...
Thursday from 6:30pm to 9:00pm (at absolute latest) at Main Lodge: food prep and some par cooking for Friday breakfast and Friday dinner.
Friday from 6:30pm to 9:00pm (at absolute latest) at Main Lodge: cooking help needed from 6:30 pm until 8:00pm, serving help needed from 7:45pm for probably about an hour, clean up help needed from 8:00pm until 9:00pm.
Saturday from early afternoon to absolutely no later than 9:00pm at Main Lodge: cooking help needed until 6:30pm, serving help needed from 6:15pm for probably about an hour, clean up needed from 6:30pm until the kitchen is cleaned.
Additionally, if you are interested in helping out with the IKOP breakfast, help will be needed starting at 7:30am at the Tipi Lodge.

people can bring in their own firewood, no problem.
she suggested to me that I tell every person that comes through gate that if they want to burn any dead wood (ground wood) that they pay $4.00 per night.
I explained to her that I have been advertising the event as $25.00 per person for the event, and to announce an additional fee of $4.00 per night per person that wants to burn wood is clearly inappropriate.
she assured me that campers love it when they find out that for $4.00 a night they can have unlimited ground fall wood.
I suggested that I tell my campers, "if you want to burn firewood pay us $4.00 a night"
she said there would be no way to police this. she said usually when there's a camp group, like say 4 people, and they go camping there they only charge a $4.00 fee per night per group at a ring.
and she said it would be a great way to make some money, because she's willing to let us keep 2 dollars of that $4.00 fee per night per camp group.
I was chosen to represent Amtgard's best interest as autocrat, the contract does not outline anything regarding firewood and charges.
as I see it, I have a couple options,
1. I could pay her the half of $4.00 per night ($2.00) per night per fire ring, and tell everyone that the rings are paid for, burn away.
or,
2. tell everyone that comes through gate if they want to burn wood it's $4.00 per night per group that comes through, and leave it at that, and not police this extra requirement that she has thrown at me 2 days before the event.

I know this, that it's way too late and total BS to try and tack this on. I don't think she knows this, or doesn't care. I don't think she understands what Amtgard is, who plays it, and that I'm a member as well as the autocrat. I think she just wants to squeeze us for money, from this conversation as well as others where she suggested I hire beer and food vendors and really make some money, basically trying to turn us into a ren faire, at the cost of the amtgarder's wallet. which is not what we are about, we are the game that's supposed to be low cost and affordable, we're the kind of people that will drink our beer in the parking lot instead of going into the game and paying 5 bucks a beer.
my concern is getting fined or kicked off site if we don't play along.
contract states: "I understand that if any part of this event is deemed disruptive or offensive to the peace and dignity of the Beaver Ranch Community Park, I will forfeit my security deposit and immediate cessation of the event will result."
and the cancellations/changes section outlines: "any cancellation less than 60 days will forfeit any and all monies previously paid, including any and all cancellations due to inclement weather."
we've already given the site the check for the event (and deposit)

If we don't change our habits at all, and abide by all the typical rules, and she decides to try kicking us off, our options are explaining the situation to the local police (should they become involved), stating the situation, namely: Contract, signed, paid already, new fees coming into play well past any reasonable deadline... If the contract is awesome in any sense, then she's bound by it as hard as we are. Private property be damned, her name's on it.
If she has a problem beyond this, we can find another site for next year.
Tell her it's out of your hands at this point, and charging for on-site wood would lose more money than not charging it.
We have a lawyer in the game somewhere? Medryn or somebody? Ask their advice. I'm purely amateur, and deal mainly in revenge.
I'm sure the place would look -amazing- with a burned out castle left there. Deposit be damned. I'd front to repay it.~Quiet

I'm willing to donate $20 to pay for use of rings (that would be 10 rings total; I can't remember if there are more than that). That way, we're pretty much covered if they decide to come back about us possibly having used ground wood for fires.
She also didn't indicate what constitutes a camp group; I'd say that, as a group ourselves, we constitute a single "Camp Group", and should only have to pay once per fire pit. WIth limited fire pits, there is limited ground wood that can be used anyway.
