Arrakis By Night: Dune Contest - 2008/12/05 20:20Asmund has developed a 'Dune after Dark' game to play at next Rakis, the "walk without rhythm" obstacle course/game.
Come up with a Dune flavored night time activity, explain the rules on here, the winner (determined by Asmund and I - and we'll be taking popular opinion and interest into judgement) will get free entry into Arrakis 20 - return to Dune (2009)
should be something cool folks can gather together to participate in.

Re:Arrakis By Night: Dune Contest - 2008/12/12 16:51Sorry i never got into Dune. Don't know enough for a good game. When there is no light, there is dark; When there is no dark, there is light; When there is both dark and light, there is Bendu

Re:Arrakis By Night: Dune Contest - 2008/12/12 21:02Don't know if I'll make it to Rakis, but I'll take a stab anyways...
Monet A&S Competition - Desert Garb Themed
Participants dress in their best Desert themed Garb (pesant, solider, noble, servant, whatever in the spirit of the Dune Movies/Mini-Series), and they are judge by how well they that particular outfit looks. Judges may not be closer that 5'-10' from the participant to judge. You can also break up the categories if you wish. Male/Female, Noble, Solider, Fremen, Household/Faction/Race, etc.
Those are the rules I can think of off the top of my head. I caught them originally from Talisin and Casca awhile back. Something like this may catch on very well.
Kudos to someone who can make their eyes glow blue! Principality Prime Minister Lucius Weezicus de Large, M.Wz.

I appreciate the suggestion, there is already a Dune themed costume contest though!
I'm looking for games or events to do at night when people are hanging out, with nothing else to do, things we can come together and do, being that Beaver Ranch is sorta broken up all over the place. something to bring folks together for fun.Strike First. Strike Hard. No Mercy. Hús Vetra Skald

Re:Arrakis By Night: Dune Contest - 2008/12/14 06:47Probably not the best idea, as its been years since I read the books, but an Arrakis themed land-contest with outposts, worms, and horribly storms.

Re:Arrakis By Night: Dune Contest - 2009/03/24 17:34That's easy. Crysknife (Dagger) Torchlight Tourney. Single Dagger only, must have a whilte or light grey cover (to make it easier to see and to make it more "crysknife"ish)

Re:Arrakis By Night: Dune Contest - 2009/03/24 18:17Non Fighting alternative:
"Spice" drink A&S competition. People bring a drink they have concocted or brewed to become the official "Spice" of Rakis (perhaps one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic version).

Re:Arrakis By Night: Dune Contest - 2009/03/24 22:14Maybe a chain of people could work with this unless we get a mechanical bull, but how about a "ride the maker" contest? It sounds better to me than a "walk without rhythm" contest.
Wait wait, I got it. over 21 only, "Drink the water of life" drinking contest.

Re:Arrakis By Night: Dune Contest - 2009/04/08 20:17I wanted to do a role-play event in the tavern Friday night...The two house that are fighting for control of Arrakis are meeting with the Spacing Guild to 'hopefully' sign an exclusive contract for transporting Spice off of the planet. Whose political wheeling and dealing can win the day?
And a "Bring a Bottle" Bar Saturday night.

Re:Arrakis By Night: Dune Contest - 2009/04/09 19:20Yeah, I was thinking knife fighting out in front of the tavern with gambling would be a fun nighttime activity.
