Imperial Mid-Reign Event Report - 2008/09/22 06:52 Hey Ho, everybody!

This weekend we celebrated Imperial Mid-Reign, hosted by South Gate, down at Trinidad State Park. Thank you to all who were able to come and join us for the Event, from as far away as Truevale (Wyoming) and Dragonspine (Las Cruces)!

I’m sure to miss something, but here’s a go at the rundown:

Friday evening was spaghetti dinner (prepared by Lady Hikari and Akira), and was huge and very tasty, and fed folks arriving long into the night. Thank you for feeding us!

First on Saturday was Weapon Master tournament, run by Prince Medryn. Dougie, Jhonus and Dan tm reeved, and we thank you guys very much for helping to promote what turned out to be a very enjoyable, clean and honest tournament – as one would expect here in the IM. Results of the fighting tournament are listed below.

Following the tournament and lunch (and a quick rain shower) we had a very groovy Oz-themed quest! Written by Talisin and Kota the quest fielded 3 teams of 6 and a last-minute pick-up team of 4. This quest was a bit different and focused on team cooperative interaction (while still being limited to staying at least 40 feet from each other as well as including non-fighting team participants along with the combatants), instead of battling each other. There were puzzles, cooperative challenges, bad guys with clues on them (figuratively AND literally), clues scattered through the site, creepy sound effects and cool NPC costumes! Thank You Tal and Kota! – this was a lot of work to put together!
The final quest “winner” was Zumat, who sacrificed himself to save the diseased Tin Man, and who received the Ring of Power Relic. Kudos to both Zumat and Dougie (“Team Goon” and “Team Dougie” team leaders) for realizing and acting on the need for teams to work together to accomplish the saving of the Tin Man, and ultimately, all of Oz!
Big Applause to Ambrose (Mitch), who ran around for 2 hours in a VERY hot and shiny (and sweaty!) Tin Man outfit, to Falquin, Hannibal, Cullum, Kota, Indra as various NPCs, to Medryn, Phydeaux and Bowsefuss for keeping up with each team as their team reeve, and to Rewth as the Fabulous and highly entertaining Scarecrow. Thanks!! to everyone who helped to pull this off!

Saturday food was provided by Axgar for both breakfast and dinner feast, and River/Medryn for lunch. Thank you all!!

Court followed Feast, and we are pleased to announce to following:

Lokin was awarded the Dagger of Honor for his battlefield chivalry.
Azrael was named Dragon Master winner, and awarded the Dragon Master Spear (or will be as soon as we can get it to him).
Zumat was named Weapon Master, as the winner of the day’s tournament (with 27 fighters – Woot!), and granted the Weapon Master Axe.

Please see also our separate post (coming soon, probably tomorrow..) for awards given out at Mid-reign, as well as a full accounting of all awards handed out so far this reign. Dragon Master results to be posted soon as well… stay tuned!

After Court, we had a great time with Bardic and general hanging-out with folks.

This morning pack-up and site close-out went smoothly and the Rangers were happy with the site as we were able to hand it back over to them.

Thank You to Everyone for helping to clean up, and leaving the site as good as we found it (if not cleaner)!! Special thanks to both Cullum and River who made 2 separate sweeps of the campsites and grounds in general for garbage and stuff to return (or at least go to lost-and-found) and Axgar who helped get the pavilion sprayed down and wrap up with the rangers.

Lastly, a Final Thank You! to Prince Medryn, as Mid-Reign autocrat and coordinator. Everyone had a great time and the event was a big success for all who came.

Cheers, and good night for now!
