Imperial Clan Report - 2008/07/29 16:36
Greetings, everyone!
Well, my first Clan weekend in several years was certainly a very interesting one.
I’m sure to miss out on some stuff, but here are the highlights as I experienced them and/or heard about stuff. (NOT a Good/Bad/Ugly list, there are others for that, just a Monarch’s summary this time.)
Thurs eve – arrive on site. Set up camp. Big hill and no available parking nearby for DW camp.. hmm, don’t think that’s going to happen, we’ll camp here at the base of the hill. Turns out that was a rather propitious decision.. but we’ll get to that later.
Night of various low key entertainments and yummy dinner, courtesy of DW camp cook mistress, Tyria. (Thank You !!)
Fri – Finding feet, shades, soda and other sundry items required to get through the day.. Meddy, Tal, Matthias and I wandering around Clan making sure things were set for both Sindari’s court appearance later that afternoon and checking in with the various Monarchs and Reps to see how the CoM vote on DW was going to go. We wanted to address any issues ahead of time, if possible. Looked pretty good on initial discussion rounds. DW banner turned up missing (not cool!) Awesome Jugging weapons were provided for scary jugging (a la Blood of Heroes jugging!) – seemed to go pretty well and everyone was having a great time with that.
- Militia Battlegame, “Revolt” = peasants vs. monarchy/mobility + guard, in the BL (?) castle. Very cool set up – not as high/tall and pretty as ours, BUT very sturdy and encompasses a small battlefield for some neat battlegame possibilities as well as a groovy place to hold a court.. (maybe Meddy will build us 2 castles… =).
- Orc Feast by Archon and Green Dragons - very tasty – green spattered bread “heads” filled with stew goo and extra juice. Hit the spot!
- IM court – held at the base of the DW hill. Celdic Fitz Caliston was given Master Rose for his various service efforts, and especially work in getting DW to Kingdom Bid status. Sindari Elfstone was offered Knighthood by Us into the Order of the Flame for her ongoing service and pre-eminent position and efforts in guiding and helping DW to come to Clan ready for Kingdom bid, and a Vigil was set up for counsel to be taken throughout the evening and late into the night. She cried a little once it sank in.
- Other Knightings happened elsewhere – Sir Jinx and Sir Deathstalker were both recognized as Kinghts of the Flame. Sir Randall was offered and sat Vigil for his offer to the Order of Knight of the Flame.
Late Friday eve, the rain began.
Sat – Rain continues throughout the day. Circle of Monarchs sucks Our soul for the better part of the day:
- Desert Winds approved by UNANIMOUS VOTE as the newest, 13th (currently in existence, 15th ever approved) Kindgom in Amtgard! Congratulations to all the folks who boarded the bus (DW had 41 total peeps on that bus! ~10% of Clan sign-ins!) and came in force to make the CoM and show support for DW kingdom bid. Huzzah!!!
- Discussed a bunch of other stuff, and approved a bunch of rules changes and disapproved a bunch of rules changes, etc. Had to leave a little early to take care of…
- Sindari’s answer to Our offer was commanded, and heard, and it was “Yes”. Please congratulate and celebrate her elevation as the 2nd Desert Winds Knight to the Order of the Flame!
- DW bus was rescheduled to leave that night, and ended up getting stuck in the mud trying to turn around. Axgar To The Rescue!! (He should totally write that story up and send it in to GMC as a Great Commercial idea for their Z71 truck..) He towed a FULL SIZED COMMERCIAL BUS out of the mud! Flawless Victory.
- Randall accepted and was given his new belt for Knight of the Flame.
- More rain. A goodly number of folks end up leaving the site throughout the evening, and they were the smart ones.. if you haven’t heard the stories yet, you will.. others stayed and had more low key wandering, drinking, socializing, fire huddling, and celebrating, etc. Lots and lots of rain continued to fall. Inter-Kingdom Court and Feast were cancelled; more people kept leaving. And yes, she (Tal) told me so.. =)
Also, more banners had gone missing. Strangely enough, a small pile of them were found at an early-abandoned campsight. So, at least they were returned.
Sun – Early morning (~4:30 am) – we were *supposed* to have been warned that the rain was creating actual camp flood conditions, but weren’t. At ~ 6 am, that was remedied, and time to get our stuff out ended up being a little short. So, we packed up fast, left the tent behind (as did a LOT of other people, among other things) and made it out over the rapidly flooding bridge and resulting roadbeds.
So far, everyone in IM seems to have made it off site safely, if wet and missing camping gear, and have made it home or are en route.
We hope everyone who went is getting their stuff successfully dried out and put away.
The next Rulebook revision is due out in a month, and will include the changes discussed in CoM.
Many congratulations to both Fitz and Sindari, and to the whole of DW!!
