Now that Rakis '08 has been wrapped up and put to bed...
..it's time for all you Future Rakis Autocrats to put together your bids to run next year's Rakis Event!
I'll be accepting bids for next Rakis from interested parties. So put your ideas down, round up your crew, and get those sent in to me by Imperial Mid-reign, please.

The most promising one will be chosen from those submitted.
Remember these helpful tips when putting your bid together:
- The more you can plan for ahead of time, the better off you'll be. Remember not only those Big jobs, like Gate-o-crat, War-o-crat, RP Tavern-o-crat, but the little ones that make the whole event fly like getting folks to commit to help set up and take down the castle *ahead of time*, trash crew volunteers, lining up walkie-talkies, etc, etc..
- A good crew can make any event easy.. and a poor one can kill the best planned event no matter what you do. Choose wisely, and make sure you have potential backup personnel for stuff.
- Know your terrain - EVEN if you've already been there before, it will probably feel like a whole different site if you're there trying to run the Event than what it feels like when you're attending the event.
- And I can't stress enough: GET AS MUCH INFO as you can from PREVIOUS Rakis autocrats and helpers as you possibly can!! They very well can be your most valuable resource as they've learned from past event problems and will help you avoid the same.
- A detailed accounting of costs for various activities and needs should be a part of your bid. This should include, at a minimum, anticipated costs for Food/Feast, War Event props, Castle Truck rental, Jugging supplies replacement/purchase, RP Tavern supplies/props, Gate supplies, and possibly port-a-potties.. and the list goes on from there.

Castle set up and take down crew (I've done this numerous times and I will be there in the trenches setting up & taking down with you, it's actually not too much time, a quick in and out when we work together)
trash crew (basically folks I can turn to say "hey, help me do a quick trash run" and "if you see trash when you're enjoying your event, please put it in a can as you're walking by" - which is something we should all be doing anyway, the event has remained fairly clean last couple years thanks to everyone being responsible and trash cans located nearby the main hang areas)Dragoon Strike First.
