Re:Armor point worth - 2008/02/22 20:16I havn't made it yet. its an idea i picked up one day. and i wanted to know the benifits of making it. i'm most likely gona be using cow or horse bones. and the leather is still just a maby.there is no good or evil, only the ambitions of man

Re:Armor point worth - 2008/02/22 21:08Personally I find it as a fairly interesting idea... in fact if you did get it done and it looked nice I would like to see it out on the field and used. Point value on something like that doesn't really matter. Let the Champion, GMR, and Monarch worry about the point value. Just Make it...

Re:Armor point worth - 2008/02/22 21:46I'm not the best at making this kind of stuff but, if it comes out well, I'm thinking of entering it into an A&S. I'm hopeing to make cow or horse skull cap with a dog skull staff.
I`ve got a friend who says he can get me some of the materials but im a little short on funding so it probably wont happen any time soon.there is no good or evil, only the ambitions of man

Re:Armor point worth - 2008/02/23 00:39Well, if you checked the rulebook, then you've seen all the available types of armor. Sadly, bone is not rated, and so would not likely add any particular bonus to the leather. Depending on what thickness of leather you used, you'd probably get just the base of that, which would be 1 or 2 points. It is possible that you could use bone (depending on the thickness) as plates (although not specifically allowable per the rulebook, it doesn't seem an unreasonable exception), although it would most likely incur at least a -1 penalty for not being steel plating. That would give you brig or lamellar at up to a 4 point level, potentially. Another issue with using bone is making sure that it is safe to use on a field, and has not sharp edges, which could make using parts of bones difficult.Kord

Re:Armor point worth - 2008/02/23 17:55Official Clarification on this would come from me right now, as Imperial GMR. As Casca said, if you want to try to get a rules clarification, write up how you actually want the rulebook to read and submit it to Medryn.Kord

Re:Armor point worth - 2008/02/24 16:30my only concern with bone armor is that it be safe. when bone dries out it often becomes quite brittle. when it breaks the edges are often VERY sharp and jagged. some care, either with shape or some form of reinforcement should be take to make sure this is no longer an issue... coating everything in a 2 part epoxy might help strengthen it.
providing it is, i'd likely rate it around 2 or 3 points on the basis that it's weight and and rigidity resembled that of hardened leather."But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo
