Reeve Question - 2007/09/23 03:16 I made a reeves test with a question that perplexed the people who took it. I'm just posting it to see what IM's answers would be.

A player is playing a spellcasting class. He has killed many players and is responsible for the shattering of at least one opponent. After playing for two of his lives, a reeve asks for his spell list, but the spellcaster cannot provide one. What should the reeve do?

In a sense, I want to see if there is one set answer, or many ways to do it.

Re:Reeve Question - 2007/09/23 19:46 i'd declare him shattered.

and tell him if he wants to play a caster again to provide his god damn list.

one of those live and learn scenarios, and the reeve should have checked his list before the game started if he was going to at all.

That's what i'd do.

Re:Reeve Question - 2007/09/24 06:10 In addition I would restore lives to anyone who had lost them in this incident.

How ever I think a complete restart would be in order. I would also be inclined to make the individual sit out this battle game, in order to promote smooth game play. No one likes to wait around for spell list to be created, at very least if a spell list could be produced before the mid point of the game I might allow this person to jump back in but only with half his lives.

That is a pretty big if, sitting out a game would do well to remind them to have their spells on hand.

My biggest problem with this scenario is like Rafeki pointed out why did the reeve not check the list in the first place. And if that is so what else did he not check, other caster list, garb requirements, WEAPONS?

Re:Reeve Question - 2007/09/24 14:47 Here's my official recommendation:

the reeve should check the spell lists before the game starts, if that's forgotten or overlooked, it's a learning lesson, always check spell lists.

In this situation for one player to already be shattered, it's probably been at least 3 engagements if that player was a first barbarian, maybe more engagements have passed, regardless, a full reset is one idea, however at this point in the game it's gone on too far, better to just finish the game up and play the next game.

the caster can't cast any spells rest of the game. His spell list was lost so he can't cast magic. he continues with whatever weapons he/she began with and however remaining lives.

remember, as the reeve your call is final, it's your job to promote smooth game play with little unnecessary delay as possible.

Re:Reeve Question - 2007/09/24 21:14 Damn, Grendel took my answer. If it's a matter of a lost spell list ("I lost it during play") rather than "I started without one," the wizard should probably be given a chance to replace it. Otherwise, he's screwed.

Personally, I'm curious as to what the "official" answer was.
Superstar, do you think you're what they say you are?
