More Amtgard for Colorado - 2007/08/10 03:10
After much discussion and reminiscing, Sir Guy and I have decided to maintain a park for Amtgard in the Aurora/Englewood area of the Denver Metro (specifically, Southmoor Park at Poplar and Hampden).
This is by no means a new chapter; however we will have a specific philosophical ideal and intend to refer to ourselves as “Castra Hiberna” (Winter Camp).
Aside from providing a park closer to home for some Amtgardians, Sir Guy and I intend to foster a climate that recalls the Amtgard of our youth.
This does not mean a return to archaic systems, but rather establishing a place for tradition-minded Amtgardians a place to peruse combat, honor and beauty in Amtgard’s modern incarnation and to provide new Amtgardians a chance to experience some of the “cultural heritage” of our shared hobby.
Currently, we plan to meet midday on Saturdays, starting August the 18th. We realize that this may create conflicts, but unfortunately mundane concerns make Sundays impossible. However, if there is enough of a demand for Sundays, accommodations can possibly be made.
Again, to be perfectly clear: We are not petitioning to be a new group. We are not looking for status as our own entity. What we are doing, in our own planned and orderly fashion, is saying: "Hey, can't make the drive to Brighton? We'll be over here if you wanna play", with a "Oh, and we're kinda old-school in our thinking" attached to it.
