Re:Mead - 2007/07/24 02:39 I've been trying to get Sir Joy to give up her amaretto variation recipe to me for years now. I so very much want it, but I think she's afraid that I might name it "Auntie Joy's Happy Mojo Elixer" or some such. (Just because I named her cheesecake "*drooool*". Geeze... no trust.)

Anyways, I'm going to start a new batch soon I swear. I want a butt load of decently aged mead for next Rakis. I do however have a couple of cordials of a palatable nature that I'm going to have about for either Donutstock and/or Midreign.

Oh, and I'm also starting a limoncello this week. Yay limoncello!

Re:Mead - 2007/07/24 04:34 casca, i will worship you as a god if you can figure out a way to make a cheesecake booze for me that doesn't contain any gluten.

i'll generally pass on the amaretto though, some bad experiences in college with it make it not my happy friend.

Re:Mead - 2007/07/24 04:45 Ooooo! Interesting challenge! I've developed a key lime pie cordial before, so cheesecake should actually be easier. (Balancing citrus with a cream base is not fun. Neither is making extracts.) Casca Eruoy

Re:Mead - 2007/07/24 08:25 Okay. Could you just pretend to not be good at something?

Re:Mead - 2007/07/24 14:34 I'm really bad at keeping my ankle and thumbs from dislocating. So I suck at fighting, closing chainmail links, and torque wrapping swords. Does that help?

Oh, and my soufles fall.

The fact that you were cursed with a frail human body is comforting. At least we know you're not some robotic crafting machine sent back from the future to destroy us all.

Re:Mead - 2007/07/24 20:15 Mmmm...limoncello sounds like an excellent way to beat the heat at Donutsock. Hint, hint.

I've never even attempted a souffle, so you're ahead of me on that one. I had a bread pudding curdle the other day, too. I claim that my oven does not regulate temp correctly. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Er... you're welcome?

A proper limoncello takes about a month, but I think I could make a quick and dirty variation. It might not have quite the same flavor backbone, but I'll try it.

Actually, on second thought, can I be a dalek? Like one of the really cheesy daleks from when Tom Baker was Dr. Who? I've always wanted to be able to shoot bad special effect lasers.

Yes but daleks can levitate. So stairs are not a problem. Sorry Brennen.

Re:Mead - 2007/07/26 05:06 Actually, that wasn't a revelation until the new series started up. That's why I was so happy she chose old school Tom Baker (Still the best Dr., but not so evolved Daleks )
