Re:Mead - 2007/07/26 19:41 From Wikipedia
"In a scene from the serial Destiny of the Daleks, the Doctor and companions escape from Dalek pursuers by climbing into a ceiling duct. The Fourth Doctor calls down, "If you're supposed to be the superior race of the universe, why don't you try climbing after us? Bye bye!"[24] The Daleks generally make up for their lack of mobility with overwhelming firepower. A joke among Doctor Who fans goes, "Real Daleks don't climb stairs; they level the building."[

And ya, the scarf doth rock.

Re:Mead - 2007/07/27 21:52 I am sorry you are correct. It wasnt until Sylvester McCoy and "Rememberance of the Daleks" that the Daleks began to be able to climb stairs.

This was when the Dr was traped in the basement of the school by the headmaster with the Daleks and for the first time the Dalek levitated up toward the Dr and just in time Ace came and saved the Dr.

Sorry my bad.

And yes the Tom Baker scarf rocks. I made my hubby one!

Re:Mead - 2007/07/30 01:53 I vote for Medryn for best mead that I tasted at Donut Stock. I kept thinking, I've only had two glasses of wine, so why am I so drunk? I suspect that the many mead and rum samplings may have been a factor. Nimue

Re:Mead - 2007/07/30 03:02 indeed. that grapefruit mead of his is getting better and better as it ages. last year it was distinctly green, but already good. by rakis it was really nice though still a smidge bitter. now, only a few weeks later, its become truly excellent. Re:Mead - 2007/07/31 22:04 Cullum says I made an extremely funny face as I tried to figure out what that flavor was. Grapefruit is distinct but always strange. I thought the bitterness was good but I agree that there was still a slight soapy flavor. I imagine that grapefruit is hard to work with. I was glad to taste it, though, b/c I'd seen recipes but never thought they sounded appealing. I'm looking forward to the holidays to I can buy cranberries for a melomel. That sounds really good to me.
Prof and I are going to put together a spiced cyser today or tomorrow. Should be ready in time for the holidays, when all that spicy stuff is so appealing.

Re:Mead - 2007/08/01 22:37 King soopers has 15 pounds of blueberries for 10 dollars. I think I'll have a blueberry melomel started shortly. I also really need to do a show mead, it's been a while since I've made something plain.

Re:Mead - 2007/08/03 23:25 Damn, that's a heck of a deal. I might buy 'em just to eat.

We started the cyser and it's bubbling like crazy.
