Re:Weather - 2007/06/11 17:18 yeah... those nights are gonna be COLD. make sure to bring plenty of layers, cloaks, significant others (or at least friends with benefits) to stay warm. "But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo

Re:Weather - 2007/06/12 21:01 back when i was younger i attempted to make a pair of boxers out of bunny fuzz. you know, those cheap tanned bunny hides you get at boy scout camp?

oh yeah... i was at scout camp.

they were totally gonna rock. had them all set to be fuzzy on the inside, leather on the outside. they would have been the rage of camp wherever-the-fuck-i-was.

problem is, i was at camp with a budget of 40 bucks. which didn't leave much for supplies. plus, i hadn't yet aquired my leather workin merit badge. so i got a regular needle and sewing thread to go with my bunny fuzz. i used a pair of normal boxers as a pattern and cut everything out and got to work sewing it all together.

well, little tiny sewing needles don't work well in leather, so i used the awl on my swiss army knife to pre-poke the holes (always be prepared!). and a threading i went. after i applied the bandaid to the palm of my left hand where i inadvertently stabbed myself before using a piece of wood as a backstop.

the other problem was at this point i was still in 7th grade. i'd take home ec, but hadn't yet taken advanced sewing. so my pattern left a bit to be desired. nothing really lined up and nuthing really fit properly. but that didn't stop me. after about 3 hours of handsewing i had myself a pair of bunny fuzz boxers! a success!

so i stripped down to my socks, combat boots and neckerchief and put on my new pair of boxers. whooooooooo lemme tell you: bunny fuzz boxers feel GOOOOOOOOD. so i stepped out of my tent to the warm kansas day expecting a round of applause from my troop-mates. yes... still wearing nothing but combat boots, a scout neckerchief and a few ragged hides of dead rabbit that looked more like i had stapled them to my waist than sewn them into an article of clothing

and thats when the threads broke.

apparently moving from a sitting position to standing position was far more strain the my near useless stitches could hold.

needless to say, i got that round of applause, but for slightly different reasons.

its gonna be COLD at night... i wish i still had those "boxers". ah... the memories.
