bushi/Duelist Credit transfer - 2006/10/30 01:23 hey all, can anyone explain what the final decision/process on how we were transfering credits etc for these two class is?

We've had some players that were inactive at the time that the allthing past that are re-activated and want to know how it works.

For example 1 is a 6th lvl Duelist with 61 credits

Another is a transdfer player from another park who is a 3rd level Bushi with 37.5 credits and a 3rd level Duelist (not sure the exact number for credits in Duelist, park stopped using the ork for awhile).

Anyhow just so we and our people know what the options can someone point me (or preferably quote) the althing that was decided upon?

Thanks

Re:bushi/Duelist Credit transfer - 2006/10/30 02:43 The idea was passed in an althing with a deadline for the point transfer, which has passed...sorry.

Re:bushi/Duelist Credit transfer - 2006/10/30 03:19 the allthing passed basically allowed any player to trade in thier credits in the two classes for any other class, with the exception that no more than 12 credits could be placed in Monster.

if they chose to take in credits then they would play the bushi/duelst alt classes as monsters, using thier monster level just like everyone else in the IM (because the two classes are no longer considered standard classes in the IM).

if they did not choose to, then the classes are still consider monsters, but they may use thier bushi/duelist level instead of thier monster level whenever playing the class in the future. however, all rules for playing a monster still apply (needing permission, garb is 100% mandatory, only playable 2 times per month)

as a side note, both classes have been re-written for the 7.0 rules by the amt7expansion group. i would personally suggest that players use that version in the future.

and, as yoto pointed out, the expiration for the trade in period was back when takezu stepped down as imperial PM. however, i HIGHLY doubt anyone is even gonna notice if someone else trades in a few months after the deadline. iwrote the allthing and put the deadline in for the sole purpose of making people not expect thier pm to jump on it 4 years down the line when folks wil lhave forgotten the details of the allthing.

Re:bushi/Duelist Credit transfer - 2006/10/31 04:09 Being that these players were both inactive at the time of the transfer and thus unaware of the time cap does anyone have a problem with them switching them over now? It doesn't seem fair for players to be penilized when they were not even active at the time. Would Monarch permission for cases like this be enough?

Can you post the actual proposal here Rewth?

Thanks.

Re:bushi/Duelist Credit transfer - 2006/10/31 14:17 March 2006 Allthing

Proposal 3 - Removal of Duelist and Bushi Classes

Duelist and Bushi will no longer be considered core classes within the Iron Mountains. Instead they will be considered monsters and may be played accordingly.

Reasoning: With the adoption of the 7.0 rules came a chance for all kingdoms to play under the same rule set, without local clarification and modifications. With the adoption of yearly Circle of Monarchs meetings, this is even more possible. The existence of Duelist and Bushi as core classes represent a large departure from this goal. This doesn't prevent them from being played, simply changes their status from core class to monster, to mirror the other kingdoms. Making them monsters also requires the player to have a copy of their rules on hand, dispelling any confusion that may arise from the different versions that exist.

Proposal 4 - Optional buy out of Duelist and Bushi Credits

Any player currently possessing credits/levels in Duelist and/or Bushi may choose to trade those credits in for credits in any other core class with the following exception. Regardless of how many credits a player has in those classes, no more than 12 credits may be transferred into Monster. This option to trade in credits will expire at the end of the next Imperial PM's reign.

Any player choosing not to take advantage this trade in may continue to play the class at the level at which they have already obtained, regardless of the passage of Proposal 3.

Reasoning: If Proposal 3 passes, people with credits should not be out the time and effort they have devoted to the game. Their credits should be allowed to be moved into other classes as has been done in the past. Since proposal 3 would make them monsters, this would allow them to retain some progress within their class if played in the future without excessive leaps forward in a class that has notable restrictions upon its advancement. It also gives them the option of retaining their credits and continuing to play at their obtained level if they choose to. All in all, the intent of this proposal is to lessen any loss that may be felt from the passage of Proposal 3.

Re:bushi/Duelist Credit transfer - 2006/10/31 16:09 Thanks Rewth,

What's your interpretation on how to handle players that were not around at the time. In fact one of the guys (Thorn) didn't even belong to the Empire at the time of this decision, In fact until last weekend when he joined RE he'd been in a group without a kingdom.

Should we make this an internal Duchy level decision or Principality/Emperial?

Re:bushi/Duelist Credit transfer - 2006/10/31 18:06 my interpretation is that its beyond the date. so they are hosed without some other form of official "permission".

my opinion, however is that no one is going to notice, or care one way or the other. i'd simply swap out their credits when its convenient to do so, and not mention it again. like i said before, the only reason i added a deadline on the proposal was for the benefit of the pm's having to make the changes and the pain in the ass it would become 5 years down the road. the empire voted that the trade in was kosher. refusing to allow someone to do it a few months after the fact when they were inactive during the window of opportunity seems like rules lawyering for the sake of being a dick.

asa side note... make sure they understand that they would be able to continue playing the monsters at thier obtained level if they don't trade in. don't push them to trade in, jsut let em if they want to and its not a pain in their pm's ass.

Re:bushi/Duelist Credit transfer - 2006/10/31 18:28 Fitz,

I've spoken to Medryn, and we are willing to allow the transfer of credits in this particular instance past the date, if the individuals in question still want it to go through. Since this was an Imperial Althing decision, we feel that the decision to make an exception should also be on the Imperial level. This is ONLY for this particular instance; any other credit transfers should be authorized separately if the question comes up again. Thanks.

Re:bushi/Duelist Credit transfer - 2006/10/31 19:04 yay! now my interpretation can be "the powers that be said it was kosher, so go for it." isn't it nice how things come together.

as a reward to kord for his forthright thinking, i'll create those new forums i was asked to create back when i was trying not to die and compeltely spaced out til yesterday and then procrastinated til today. isn't today grand!?
