Midreign was a success! - 2006/09/17 23:28A huge thanks to everyone who came out to midreign and made it the wonderful event that it was! Despite the forecast for snow, over thirty souls braved the cold and joined us in the mountains to play. We fought in the rain, quested when the sun came out, and sat in front of a roaring fire to share a story and a song. Everyone had an amazing attitude and helped make the best of a not-so-ideal situation. Thank you again for a fantastic time!

Re:Midreign was a success! - 2006/09/18 15:16what an awesome event, it was a very friendly fun time, the ditching was awesome and the meals were great, the weather only made folks get closer which was great
Congrats to Sir Talisin, Knight of the Crown & Flame Truly deserved Heather, you raise the bar If someone has pics of the gifts they should post them, Casca and Joy (I believe) made some sweet stuff for Tal
us Fort Colliner's got spoiled with the event so close to us, thank you to everyone that came from throughout the core from various distances, I'm glad you all made the trek and it wouldn't have been the same without you.
p.s. thanks Moss for running dragon master & thanks to the folks that judged the entries.
Congrats to Thor for his Dragonmaster win, thank you to Zumat for encouraging all the stick jocks that were at the first attempt for Dragonmaster to enter at least one item as there weren't enough entries to have a Dragonmaster the first time. You called out the thunder, and the Mjollnir Tosser answered.

Re:Midreign was a success! - 2006/09/18 16:43The weather was suckage to be sure, but dangit, that was a fun event. I wish I could have stayed later on Saturday night. Of course, I don't know how much longer I'd have stayed upright on Saturday night if I had stayed. Being bundled into the car and forced to endure a two hour ride home at least kept me from continuing to drink and probably embarrassing myself later.
Thanks to Cutari and River for putting on such a great event! I had a lot of fun NPCing in Grendel's quest, and the hot chocolate and S'mores were inspired. The fireplace was awesome, and Axgar is a freaking genius. Not only did he come up with a plan and the means to block out the wind, he also provided drunk food at precisely the right moment.
Thanks a bunch, guys. If someone didn't get pics of all the schweet schwag, I'll try to post some at some point. Casca, Joy and Kord far outdid themselves, it was awe-inspiring (although losing patience and screaming "GIVE IT TO ME!" while your squire is trying to show off the splendiferous Joy coat to the masses was probably bad form). Cullum, Moss, Grendel, Lief, Medryn, Totem, shoot, eveybody was awesome and a lot more generous than I deserve.Tal

Re:Midreign was a success! - 2006/09/18 20:35my favorite part of the whole event was the general attitude. and in my opinion, it may actually have been the weather that caused it. the cold and the rain made it so the overriding feeling was that "i came to this event to have a good time, so damnit, i'm going to!" it led to absolutely everyone pitching in, and everyone walking around with a smile on thier face (and a shiver to the bone). it honestly reminded me of Salt Wars and the pervailing attitude at that event.
cutari and river tried to tell me that they would totally understand if I and my group wanted to go home instead of sticking round to sing. i tried to impress upon them that there was absolutely no place i would have rather been than sitting round a overly smoky fire, getting buffed by freezing winds and enjoying the present company. in truth i think they were jsut trying to get rid of me. --grin--"But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo

Re:Midreign was a success! - 2006/09/19 00:54It was Nimue's and my first Amtgard event, and it was a blast. I was worried at first, because we neglected to bring the poles for our tent. And we didn't have enough alcohol Takeazu was nice enough to share his tent, and we both masnaged on the booze we had brought. Ditching was a little intimidating for a noob, what there were like four sword knights in a ditch. I had a blast even though I died more times trhan I would care to count. So THANKS again everyone.

Re:Midreign was a success! - 2006/09/19 01:22I concur. I had a blast hanging out with everyone even though I was too scared to ditch. And I'm pretty sure I had a humongous goofy grin on my face the whole quest game as I thought "I'm playing live D&D! This rocks!" Did anybody notice the dad who pulled his kid away from us in the parking lot? Just because we were running around in goofy costumes and yelling about vampires and zombies! And we promise to bring more booze next time.Nimue "Everything in excess! To enjoy the flavor of life, take big bites. Moderation is for monks." (Robert Heinlein)

Re:Midreign was a success! - 2006/09/19 04:05Er... let's hope this will work. I, theoretically, should be posting clickable thumbnails...
I don't have pictures of the mug. I didn't think to take any for some reason before it got given to Tal. Hopefully, someone will find it though.

Re:Midreign was a success! - 2006/09/19 04:09WOO HOO! It worked!
That's the scroll anyways. The lettering and details are all burnt into the leather, then the color is a combination of pastels and acrylics, and since I forgot to include a ruler when I was taking the pictures (doh!), as a point of reference for all of you, the lowercase letters of the main body paragraph are approximately 1/4" tall.Casca Eruoy
