Re:Summer Trials IV 2006 - 2006/06/21 07:43Dates for the Event: Sept 7-9, 2006
Place: Lake Arrowhead Park, Neola, IA
Ok a couple of explanations on events.
Amtgard Iron Chef - We'll be using the "Mystery Box" format like last year so I'll need a head count on how many teams are planning on entering so I know how many boxes to prepare. For those not in attendance last year, each team will get a box containing a variety of ingrediants and will have One hour to complete a minimum of 3 dishes for the 5 judges. I'll post the complete rules in the next few days.
5 on 5 team event - this is going to be a small team smash battle, in a single elimination tourney style. When compiling your teams each 5 man team is allowed only One of any class on each teams but each company can enter as many teams as they want.
Nighthunter rules will be forthcoming along with the Gauntlet rules.

Event Details:
Amtgard Iron Chef – "Mystery Box" format: Each team will get a box containing a variety of ingredients and will have Two hours to complete a minimum of 3 dishes for the 5 judges. Presentation, originality and taste will be the criteria. Teams may provide their own spices: they need to be spices or herbs, but can not be something that could be eaten by itself (ex: garlic is not allowed, but garlic-salt is). Chairman Oderic will make the final call if allowable or not. However, trading of ingredients between teams will be allowed. A list of herbs, oils, and seasonings used are mandatory due to safety reasons. Reserve your team’s box NOW by sending an email to odericii@hotmail.com !
Cook’s Guild Hosted Pot-Luck – DQT Cook’s Guild will be providing a selection of main course dishes for everyone. You will provide the side items or desserts: If your mundane last name starts with the letters A thru N, please bring a side item, if it starts with M thru Z, please bring a dessert. Plus we’ll have the leftovers from the Iron Chef competition, (If the judges leave any.)
Nighthunter – The goal of this game is to rack up as many kills as possible within the allotted time while running the forest trails at night. Your weapon is a single sword of at least 12 inches but less than 48 inches and it MUST be covered with a white sock or white cloth.
House Ironwood Breakfasts - Scrambled eggs w/cheese biscuits / white gravy, sausage, bacon & hash browns. We are looking to see if we can get another grill so we can make French toast. (not on menu yet) Sides: butter, syrup & ketchup
Gauntlet - "ELF SHOT THE FOOD! WARRIOR NEEDS FOOD BADLY" This is a 4 on 4 game. It will be played double elimination tourney style. Each team consists of 4 players with the following positions and abilities: Warrior – Sword and board. Shield is considered hardened. Valkyrie - Single Sword plus 3 throwing daggers. Sword is considered hardened. Wizard - 3 lighting bolts and Protection from Projectiles. Elf - Bow with 4 arrows, positioned in a 5x5 square located 10 ft outside the playing field. The Field is laid out as 50 feet by 25 feet, The elf players may move or fire as they see fit but may not leave the turret. The Warrior, Valkyrie and Wizard players begin the game out of bounds next to the entry zone. Wounds, deaths, and spell effects are all as per standard Amtgard rules. Play commences with a whistle. Teams enter the field and try to kill each other. Dead players (except Elf Players) leave the field by the shortest route and return to their entry zone. After 60 seconds if both teams still have living players (including Elf players) then the reeve will blow the whistle again and everyone (except Elf players) will come back in from their starting spot. Elf players stay in their turret whether alive or dead and will return to life after a whistle. Live players who step out of bounds (including Elf Players leaving their turret) die and are dead until the next whistle. Play continues until all of one team is dead while the other team has at least one person alive.
5 on 5 Team Event - This is going to be a small team battle elimination tourney. When compiling your teams each 5 man team is allowed only ONE of any class on each teams but each company can enter as many teams as they want.
Principality Traveling A&S Contests - Here are the 3 categories to be judged as announced by our Principality Regent Kyrill : Melee Weapon, Garb Accessories and Picnic Foods. All must have the usual documentation to be considered for the contest (yep, that means that the food entries MUST have an ingredient list with it). PRP Regent Kyrill will be pulling her fellow judges from those that are attending the event.
Pie in the Face – A fundraiser for the Duchy, the top 5 players to have points put on them, will receive a pie to the face! Not only can you buy points to place on a player, but you will also have the opportunity to bid to be the one to “throw” the pie the night of the event. Here are the standings as of 8-25:
• The site does have indoor bathrooms and showers at the lodge located a short distance from the main camping area. There are water pumps and outhouses around the camping area. There are no fire bans in the area, so fires can be made in the camps fire rings. The camp site has a ranger that sells bundles of wood from the back of a truck near the camp office.
• Feast gear is highly recommended!
• There will be water jugs available and lemonade/punch at feasts, otherwise all drinks are bring your own. The site is wet: There will be no underage drinking tolerated per IM Copora and mundane law! See below
• Gate: There will be a sign in sheet where payments will be marked and wrist bands/favors will be given. All attendees must wear a wrist band. They will be two colors: Red for under 21 and Green for above. Anyone with a red wrist band caught drinking alcohol will be told to leave the event. NO EXCEPTIONS! None of us want to be arrested / fined.
• Each team will have a captain. The minimum team size is 3 players. The teams will conform to the 7.2 rulebook for battlegames, i.e. 1 per 10 casters, 1 per 5 bows.
• Team captains will sign in their teams with class information. Class restrictions will be followed throughout all challenges. The class you sign in as is the class you play for the entire event. No switching classes. Monster classes are not allowed.
• Players that do not arrive at the event with a team may form teams at the site or may be recruited by captains of existing teams. Recruitment is voluntary. Once you have joined a team and the team captain signs you in, you may not switch teams.
• Each challenge is worth one point for scoring. The team with the most points by feast Saturday is the winner.
The Point Challenges: a. Amtgard Iron Chef Mystery Box Challenge (1 box per team) b. Bardic (unlimited entrants per team) c. Night Hunter (unlimited entrants per team) d. Gauntlet (up to but not more than 2 - 4 person squads per team) e. Boat Race ( up to but not more than 2 – 2 person crews per team) f. Full Class Smash Battles Grand Melee Style (entire team) g. 5 on 5 class Battle (unlimited number of 5 person squads per team but each team member may only be on one squad.)Baroness Teleri ne Tema :}Kathleen Avatar & Guildmistress of Monster Regent Duchy of Querna Tema

Re:Summer Trials IV 2006 - 2006/09/12 00:16First off let me apologize to anyone who gets this post more than once, but I wanted to make sure everyone got it at least once. I appreciate all the "atta boys" and pats on the back I got from everyone who had a good time but I couldn't have done it alone. These are the people, whom without their assistance, I would have had no hope of pulling this off. To my fair Teleri, thank you for keeping me organized, running the gate and the bardic and for being my combination whipping boy, secretary, and gopher. A big thanks to Khanar, Angus, Kyrill, Jocelyn, CioCio, Yoto, Sankou, and Micah, who all helped reeve or judge various events throughout the weekend. Things wouldn't have gone nearly as smoothly without you all. A big thanks goes out to Kapcoth and House Ironwood for making sure everyone started their days off right with homestyle breakfasts. Thanks to Micah and his pages, Weezicus and Skrag, for the contributions to lunch. A GREAT big thanks to Jolly and CioCio for the fantabulous (yes I said fantabulous) feast on Saturday night. Nothing like full bellies all around to cap off a great weekend. I would also like to make a special thanks to our Imperial vistors, Leif, Kezgar, and Kord. You may not be fully aware of it but your presence, your willingness to instruct, and the opportunity to swing stick with you all give an event that little extra something. Thanks guys. And last but not least, thanks to those who braved the wetness to stay Saturday and help police up the area on Sunday. If I missed anyone by name, I apologize, but as any autocrat can tell you the whole event is kind of a blur for me, but know that I thank you too. Here's to next year!
