Re:Iron Man!!!! - 2006/05/03 14:25Depending on turn out there will be one or two lines with reeves to help move things faster.
The first two people in line fight, the winner stays and the loser goes to the back of the line (or other line if there are two fields) The next person in line fights the winner of round one. and so on.
The winner of the overall tournament is the person with the most consecutive wins in a row!!!
there will be about a 45min limit on the overal tournament. if two fighters "simo" 3 times, they will both go to the back of the line in order to get extra fights in there and speed things up a bit.
The main point of a tournament like this is LESS PRESSURE for you to win that round because you are never really knocked out of the tournament. You will also be able to get MORE FIGHTING in.
As for weapon changes, this is my question, Should we allow weapon changes but if you do you have to go to the back of the line? or Should we not allow weapon changes at all?
Any other Questions or Suggestions?Cruz Hús Vetra Skald "Sand is over rated, it is just a bunch of tiny rocks..." "The more you sweat during practice the less you bleed in battle"

Re:Iron Man!!!! - 2006/05/03 14:38i thin kyou should specify what weapons are allowed to begin with... can i use a pole? can i use a sword and board and downsword? can i use long weapons for that matter or are the short weapons restictions in place?
and i think if you want to change weapons you go o the end otherwise it should be kosher. would suck to start with a pokey and get your ass handed to you repeatedly and then not be able to change.
kinda sucks that 3 simos ends your streak, but i can totally see the need for it. also think that longest streak sucks compared to total wins because proper seeding within the line can grant some hella long streaks or improper seeding result in some very short ones on high end fighters. but... thats jsut an opinion, doesn't matter to me really."But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo

Re:Iron Man!!!! - 2006/05/04 00:19I think that you should have two fields and one line. That way you won't always fight the person directly behind or infront of you. That's what I hated about last time. I would simo with someone and then fight them when I went through the line again. One line, multiple fields is my suggestion.

Re:Iron Man!!!! - 2006/05/04 07:40good point Kain, you could do that, or if you had 2 lines & 2 fields you tell every person that dies or does the 3 simos "you are 1, and you are 2" and basically split them (one person goes back to the same line)
though your suggestion might work better I think.
btw - who cares about the seeding? if you can't beat the person here & now, then how are you gonna beat them later? (course everyone says that when they draw easy fights, right up to the point where they draw a warlord for their first fight.)
I think it should be whatever restrictions Cruz implements
(sword & board, florentine, single sword, madu & sword, would be my personal suggestion - poles might end up slowing things down quite a bit if a shield man gets legged and they do the turtle dance for 5 minutes)
as far as sword lengths go that's up to Cruz, I don't really care either way, I'll be sticking to shorts.
as far as weapon switching, last time we allowed weapon switches half way through as a one time thing. I think going to the end of the line for a weapon switch would be ok, I think the best option would be you can only switch when you die, before you get back in line, no going to the end of line when you're already in line to switch. Get everyone to bring their equipment to the area where we are doing Iron Man at, so we don't have any huge delays while folks grab their stuff. Re:Iron Man!!!! - 2006/05/04 08:18Kain i really like that idea and that is the way i am going to do it.
As for weapon lengths, nothing over 4ft. This (as grendel Said) will help make things go a little faster preventing any "turtle dances"
Weapon styles, no more than two things(two swords, two shields or a combo of the two) Essentially, no down swords.
How about a short 15-20 min single sword Iron Man tourney right before the main one in order to warm people up?
As for wins in a row rewth, that is the point of this kind of tourney. Since i will have excel sheets this time, i may do a "winner" for most overall wins but the true winner is "wins in a row"Cruz Hús Vetra Skald "Sand is over rated, it is just a bunch of tiny rocks..." Re:Iron Man!!!! - 2006/05/04 09:20cool cool, so no madu's over 4 feet in total length (shield top to stab tip) and no down swords over 4 feet (shield top to downsword tip) ?
a single sword iron man would be a nice warm upDragoon Strike First. Strike Hard. No Mercy. Hús Vetra Skald IMU

Re:Iron Man!!!! - 2006/05/04 10:33Hell, I woulda loved to use my pole in this one. If it's required, I won't do a 'turtle dance'. I'll just banzai them.Quiet

Re:Iron Man!!!! - 2006/05/04 14:09I have a question. What time are you going to start? I would appreciate if it could start later in the day, around 2:30 or 3:00 because I have to work. It is cool if that is not possible. I really like the idea of single sword first. I am looking forward to the tourney. Thanks

Re:Iron Man!!!! - 2006/05/08 08:03I'll start the single sword tourney around 1:30 and end around two-ish? I will when do you get off work?2:30 or 3:00? I am going to try and start it by 2:30ish but we'll see how things go. I don't want this to be the only thing all day either, there should still be time to do stuff after the tournament.Cruz Hús Vetra Skald "Sand is over rated, it is just a bunch of tiny rocks..."
