equipment - 2006/04/25 14:06 could someone tell me the best place to get decent items to build my equipment at a cheap price that would help me a lot on getting started thanks.

Re:equipment - 2006/04/25 15:13 Most of the things you'll need can be picked up at Walmart. Fun noodle, sport's tape, camp pad, duct tape, and packing tape. You'll also need to be thinking about what you want to do for sword covers. It's not kosher anymore to use pantyhose or whatever so you'll need to sew covers from an opaque fabric of your choice. The hard part of constructing swords is finding things to use for cores. (check the rules book to find out what types of cores are banned) To be the most cost effective, I'd say pick up some 1/2 inch PVC pipe from Ace hardware. It's pretty cheap and makes okay weapons. I prefer to use broken graphite golf shafts but they're becoming a hard thing to come by. Others use kitespar for cores and it works good too. It's a little expensive and I don't know anywhere to get it except off the internet with a credit card. Please take ALL my advise with a grain of salt. Most people who know me will tell you that I'm wrong about much in life but will share this misguided information with anyone who'll hear me ramble.

Re:equipment - 2006/04/26 16:03 Hey Kyrus,
One quick note - you can still use panty hose they just have to be opaque. Sheer stockings are what is no longer allowed. You can use a heavy hose or a set of tights - its just as good as sewing something.

Re:equipment - 2006/04/26 16:41 Thanks Artimus, I wasn't aware of that. I thought that they had disallowed it. But that's good do know if you're in pinch and don't have any other means of making a cover.
