Persona Quests - 2006/04/19 13:06
Duke Rico has implemented a full reign Persona Quest within the Duchy of the Desert Rose. One day a month is dedicated to the Persona Quest. Each of these days consists of many mini quests that play into the Big Picture. The populace is able to write their own quests which we in turn add into the story line of the Quest as an whole. The rules are posted on the DW Principality website under the Miscellaneous Downloads @ www.thedesertwinds.org/site.
The first installment of the Persona Quest was April 15th. It went off with many a hitch, but from what we here everyone had fun.

Well Kudos and brownie points galore for you two. I thought your first official persona day went off great. Everybody was smiling, having fun and generaly having a good time.
AFter a bit of a rough start trying to answer everyones questions regarding the rules, it started well. Everybody bought some item or another with many planning on what they needed to do to get those items that they coveted.
Ah yes, battlegame quests....in-genius!
The first one was a little slow starting but hey; it was a long winter and folks needed to shake the rust off. The DBM's all dazed and confused, leaving no comment or reasoning to why they were ... heh even I was confused.
Te second was great!!! I was a dark steed, I rocked .... trampled at least one to two dozen questors before my own son kacked me cheaply...it was great.
Third was cool as well, questors had to rid the woods of the evil necro, a little slow at times but still had lots o flavr.
All in al,l I felt the day went well, and much promise was shown.

Here is the story line I wrote for the first of the 3 quests held that day:
The Search for the Dragon Blade Mercenaries
The towns’ people gathered about the inn, as the sun stretched over the mountains shinning light upon the Duchy of the Desert Rose. Little did the town folk know the rays could not pierce the dark shadow that had been cast in the surrounding countryside during the night.
The day began as any other with the Champion calling the Duchies fighters to the arena for a morning spar. After fighting for a short spell people began to notice the rather quick disappearance of their fellow fighters. Finally with the disappearance of the Champion the remainders made their way back to the inn. Regent Elsa ran into the inn to inform Duke Rico that only Dragon Blade Mercenaries were missing and her and Rico were sure to be the next victims.
Immediately Duke Rico called forth the towns people. “Our most renowned fighting company, the Dragon Blade Mercenaries, seem to have disappeared! I need teams of fighters to commence a search of the surrounding wilderness. A reward of 6 copper will be awarded for each Dragon Blade brought back alive.” A few teams were quickly formed and ventured into the nearby woods to begin their search, quickly finding many signs of sinister sorcery. One group found Jalis confused and stumbling aimlessly, attacking trees that got in his way. When they attempted to save him he turned on them violently striking at anyone within reach. After killing him they brought him back to town thankfully Duke Rico found that he was very near death and was able to heal him in time. Soon afterwards a Satyr happy to see those in need of entertainment began distracting the questors with songs, dances, and for his own enjoyment began charming others.
Relieved that he had been found, Matthias happily joined the adventurers as they lead him back to town, at least that is what the Mimic led them to believe. Once the group felt safe ‘Matthias’ turned on them, blaming the attack on the nearby Saytr. While conversing at the inn they learned they were not the first group to have this exact encounter with ‘Matthias’. Deeper into the woods the trepid questors came across Cerrifon who was lost and trying to make his way back to the inn, the group was able to help him without a hitch. As groups learned more about the conditions of the Dragon Blades some tried selling the information to others, Owl even separated from his group becoming an Informant for hire. Vexx was found with a condition much like that of ‘Matthias’, which still eluded them. The group, managing to subdue Vexx began escorting him back to the inn. All seemed to be going well, when Vexx regained his consciousness and attacked the team once again. Exasperated, they landed a killing blow. Within moments Vexx appeared to ‘wake up’, as he began to look around the group learned that he had no recollection of what events had transpired, nor who was behind it all. The group bringing Matthias back learned that he seemed to have some sort of control over the rest of the Dragon Blades, though he also had no memory of how he ended up in the woods. As the mimic left his body it is rumored that he said, “I am not the master, simply the next in line.” This left many unanswered questions and mysteries to unravel. Who had taken the Dragon Blades and what diabolical events were in store for the Desert Rose?
