Dragonmaster 04-09-06 Results - 2006/04/11 09:24 I swear this isn't to sucker anyone. I have the results complete but I have decided not to publish them till Midreign. It was a very tight competition with many excellent items. After Midreign court, I will publish full results and comments.

I want to say that the Totem and Talisen competition could hardly have been closer. Totem won on the better than average system but Tal actually had a slightly higher average score. You will see that Totem's edge in bonus points was only .1 and that Tal's edge on average score was only .05. Its a cliche to talk about how close the scores were but you cant argue with numbers. Thank you both and thank you all the DM entrants for making this a real DM to remember.

Re:Dragonmaster 04-09-06 Results - 2006/04/17 15:54 I like the old system better where there would have been a 3 way tie for 1st....
Ok all joking over congrats both totem and talisen. You both rocked.

So when are we going to get the notes from the judges?

As a note, the system used here is not the same better than average system that was utilized for Crown Quals and Dragonmasters the last couple of years, so this isn't actually the "new" system we've been using.

Congrats to all, it was a great competition!

Re:Dragonmaster 04-09-06 Results - 2006/04/18 09:46 Agreed. It is the 'better than average' system I first learned. It is not the system we have used for a year or two now. So its a new system but not 'the' new system.

Re:Dragonmaster 04-09-06 Results - 2006/04/18 13:09 IM people,

I have a grave apology to make. In scoring the IM Dragonmaster, I picked up the wrong spreadsheet, out of my pile and filled in the scores. Since I have been talking so much about scoring A&S and about 3 different systems with people from our subgroups and since I was in a hurry getting everything ready for Mid-reign, I didn't notice that I had the wrong system. Well I noticed but I had one of those mental dis-connects where I thought it was right. Anyway, yall don't need to know what my issues where. You just need to know that I screwed up and not just a tiny bit. As soon as it was brought to my attention I have been trying to fix it. I know how much people hate to see systems changed in mid-contest. As such, I have re-calculated and re-checked the scores according to the version of 'better than average' we have been using for Dragonmasters for the last few years and I have renamed my spreadsheets to try and avoid similar issues in the future. I apologize to everyone of you but especially to Sirs Talesin and Totem. My error switched the winner between them. My earlier comment still stand about how close this competition was. My error only affected who was the winner because the two of them really were neck and neck. I wish I could give them both the staff but there's really only room for one set of hands on it. As such, Sir Talesin is the winner and will receive the Dragonmaster staff as soon as we get it back from the incumbent.

PS - I know I still owe comments to the contestants. Its one more thing I still need to type up.

Re:Dragonmaster 04-09-06 Results - 2006/04/19 07:35 The incumbent will be happy to relinquish the spear of the Dragon Master
to it's new owner.

And here I was thinking the next logical step would be Totem getting on and saying, "I am disinclined to acquiesce to your request."
