Re:D+D online - 2006/03/25 09:37not yet. i'm gonna wait til i'm done with oblivion before i look into dnd online. there were jsut too many things missing that i felt were integral to the eberron setting for me to jump in head first."But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo

Re:D+D online - 2006/03/25 15:20Getting my comp in a week I might get it if it has some good reviews..."As like an evening fog I used to lay among the knotted roots of trees. akin to the woods as they were to me. My brethren were there also; one with the world, neither master nor slave to the earth nor to the others who share our realm..."

Re:D+D online - 2006/03/25 16:05I'll give you a one of my own right now.
First off, the built in voice chat is a life saver. Granted, listening to D+D geeks with poor social skills may not be everyone's cup of tea, but since I've been playing, it's been great. The built in Group finder works like a champ so there's no more LFG spam all over the place.
Loot drama is just non-existent as all loot is randomly generated for each player. If you want something, you ask for it/trade for it. As it should be.
It's D+D. I went out and bought the 3.5 players handbook so I could get a long term view of where my character was heading in the feats/skills/spells categorys.
The only beef I have so far is the UI. With WoW, I had a very customizable UI and all of the Icons for skills were very distint and different. Easy to seperate and distinguish. The Icons here are all kind of drab so they just blend together for me. Since I'm a clicker and not a keyboard monkey, I'm going to have to retrain to be more effective.
All in all, I've had more fun with this game in the past week than I had with the last 2 months of WoW.
In game names so far are Brennan - Brennen was taken =( Rabbitt (An ode to the greatest of barbarians =P ) Silverback

Re:D+D online - 2006/03/28 09:33Well, I started this game this weekend, and I'm both impressed and disappointed.
I've played EQ1/EQ2 (both to 60th level), SWG, and COH. I got invited to the final beta for DDO, but didn't have the time (although, I believe anyone with a computer was invited for final beta ).
The interface is straight forward, and the first quests were pretty easy. I started with a dwarven fighter, and ran into a huge wall halfway through 1st level. I tend to solo mostly in these games, and group only for the big raids or mobs too tough to deal with on my own. This game is pretty much designed for the group player. I find that all I'm doing is repeating certain quests that give the best XP/loot, just so that I can afford the 15 cure light potions that I'll need to finish the toughies. There are some quests at first level that I could not complete even with the potions. I limped my way to 2nd level with the fighter, but only after redoing the same 3 quests over and over (on the other hand, I have +1 shield, weapon, and chain shirt, good loots for a first level character). It's not exactly 3.5 edition, but they had to do something to translate to an MMO.
I tried a human cleric, for the self healing, but I'm still stuck against the same wall (Side note - the easiest way to get the good loots is the kidnapped by kobolds quest, 2 harvestable mushrooms, a harvestable adventurers pack, 50 breakable barrels and urns, 2 decent loot chests, and random items at the quest's completion. I got all my best gear, and the money to buy the cure lights, from this quest).
I'm sure that the game is 100% different if you're grouped, and I'm going to try that next. I'm also slightly pleased about the difficulty soloing, it makes finally completing a quest an achievement.
I'm on the server that the E-Sam guys are on (can't remember the name corretly, but I think it's like Argonnessen, or something like that. It's the longest A name).
Rewth - I'd be playing Oblivion, but my graphics card is one advance to low. Dammit!!! Have to go upgrade now just to run the program (my son was very disappointed, he installed it Sunday).

Re:D+D online - 2006/05/26 21:39That's right. I actually thought about downloading the trial, but decided I was too lazy click a few times on the mouse at the time.
