Sept 28th - Spore Battlegame - 2008/09/14 09:44 So your newly crowned baron has found himself a delightful new game, whereby one may create nearly anything they can imagine as a creature, and send it out into the world, starting from an amoeba, then to a prehistoric creature, a tribal leader, then a civilization ruler, and finally a space-faring pilot.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool. It also inspired me to create a new battlegame, which we'll be playing in a coupla weeks at the NH park.

Here's the rules.

Spore Battlegame
Teams: 2-4

All players are subject to 'Evolution'. In essence, every round of play that progresses, all players will 'evolve' in their chosen class, rather, they will gain a level at the start of a new round. Every class starts at level 1, and progresses predictably each round. The game will run for 6 rounds, oddly enough.

Players can choose from the standard classes, and progress through each level from 1 in the 1st round to 6 in the 6th round. Magic users will be restricted accordingly, each round. The plus side is they will get to change up their spell list as they 'evolve' each round. It's highly encouraged for such classes to have prepared spell lists for each round, to keep the gameplay rolling.

To combat some issues that might arise with lives-dependent abilities, most notably Fight After Death, each player is considered to have six lives, regardless of their chosen class, for this particular game. Each round, every player 'loses' a life. You died and your offspring is fighting now, essentially. Thus, Berserk lives will be on the last two rounds, as though a barbarian had already lost four lives.

Players, in addition, will be able to choose various monsters they wish to play, under the same rules. There is a 1:1 ratio restriction here, sadly, in the interests of game balance.

Finally, players may create their own classes to play. Classes will be reviewed by myself or another authority figure of the park before gameplay, and the player is expected to know how their new class will progress as each level goes on. Get creative! Make something silly. Make some cheesy garb if you're so inclined.

Suggestions for rules, revisions, and so forth are welcome. I've likely completely missed some important notes, caveats, and the like in this little blurb.

So, two weeks. Get ready.
