Althing Discussion: Proposal #2 - Attendance requirements for BOD seats - 2010/05/10 15:44
Proposal 2: Add the following to Appendix A of the Iron Mountains Corpora:
I.12. Members of the B.O.D. must have gained attendance anywhere within the Empire at least six times in a rolling six month period to retain their seat on the board.
I.13. Members of the B.O.D. will be automatically removed from the board if they miss two consecutive quarterly meetings. If a member is removed from the B.O.D. in this fashion, an election will be held on the next Imperial Althing to replace them for the remainder of their term.
Rationale: While the B.O.D. is the business management of the Empire of the Iron Mountains, it is important that the members still be up to date on what is occurring within the Empire so as to be able to handle any mundane situations as they arise. Requiring minimum attendance ensures that the members of the B.O.D. have at least a passing acquaintance with current events within the Empire. The corpora also mandates currently that B.O.D. meetings are held at least quarterly to handle any and all mundanely related business. Without meeting quorum, or at least a simple majority of the members of the board, it is impossible for the board to conduct the business as necessary. Currently, there are no consequences to members of the board for not fulfilling their job requirements unless the Empire proactively impeaches them. This requires Board Members to participate in order to maintain their status as members of the board.
