Star Con - 2005/04/25 05:42 So, what do we need to bring to Star Con, should we be the lucky folks headed in that direction next week? I can only assume pretty garb, a coupla weapons to lay out on the table (no fighting, of course), and a rabid eagerness to pimp Amtgard in all it's glory.

Are we getting handouts to.. uh.. distribute to the populace? I can't envision writing down the samurai forums and www.amtgard.com 800,000 times on scrap paper. I'd be old by the end of that.

Do we get food for working the booth, too? Oh please?

Re:Star Con - 2005/04/25 09:53 For those who are hitting Star Con, here are a few suggestions:

Anything cool. Armor, weapons, jewelry, garb, etc.

Make sure to bring plenty of beater weapons if you have them. I'm not exactly sure how this demo is being set up, but it's a good probability that we will be having a bunch of newbies swinging weapons, so we need to have enough for them to use, and more if they get broken.

Weapon fixing kits. Make sure to bring plenty of tape and extra fun noodle. Cores might be a good idea as well, but we're not expecting too many of those to break. We want to be able to get the weapons that the newbies will be using up and functional again pretty quickly.

Rulebooks. If you have the ability to print some out or get them copied, those are a wonderful thing to be able to pass out to the new people. It'll be a hard copy reminder for them to get out to the park and try it out. Corporas and monster manuals are good as well, but not as necessary.

Magic components. Spellballs, ribbons, etc. Make sure people know what is going to be going on with Magic. Especially at a convention like this one, the fantasy aspect is going to be one of the big draws, so we want to market that.

As for flyers, I haven't seen anything yet, but hopefully someone will come up with something. I'm afraid I am not terribly artistically inclined, so I can't do it. Any volunteers, or do we already have something planned for this?

Food? Probably not. And the con has changed venues since I've been there, so I'm not sure what all is around the area, either. Best bet is to probably pack a few things just in case.
