Vans to Salt Wars - 2008/01/23 02:34 I will be setting up between 1-2 (or more) van rentals for salt wars.

They will fit between 9-15 people, so we are looking at a cost of around 50 bucks per person.

50 bucks from here to Provo Utah. Hard to beat. If you are interested PM me, call me, drop me an email, trying to get a head count. I would like to get as many of us out there as possible. Got about 10 seats reserved so far, so you can be assured at least one van is going.

Let me know.

Re:Vans to Salt Wars - 2008/01/23 05:16 Do you happen to work for a rental agency or just get good deals?

Desert Winds has the goal to get 50 players to Clan this year and are looking at the best travel options, doing fundraisers etc.

Re:Vans to Salt Wars - 2008/01/23 19:17 I do not work for a rental agency, I have a friend who does, and he's attempting to hook me up. But I dont know how successful I will be in getting a major discount. Kung Fu is about the cultivation of the spirit.

Re:Vans to Salt Wars - 2008/01/23 21:29 Yeah, you probably will be able to stay inside the 200 miles per day that most of the places I've talked to this week allow. Whereas we are looking at doubling the milage which just about doubles the rental fee before gas.

Man, wish I knew some place in Utah we could barrow a few 15 passenger vans from, or a bus..... if we were in NM coming up to Utah I would have the connections for a greyhound bus.... damn you murphy!!!!!

Re:Vans to Salt Wars - 2008/01/23 21:59 Look in to chartering a bus. If you can get 50 people to buy in you can probably do it for about 50 bucks a person.

Re:Vans to Salt Wars - 2008/01/24 01:14 I've been doing that as well, I checked with 4 different charter bus companies today and they all wanted $6200-$6700 for the round trip + Driver hotel room and tips. My last call today the guy asked me if the driver needed to stay onsite the whole time and I said no, drop off and pick up was fine, we just needed the transport. He quoted me $2400 round trip leaving SLC Tuesday evening, picking up from Bonito Lake Sunday morning. I'm waiting for a quote in writing just to be sure. If that pans out we're looking at roughly $44/person for a 54 passenger bus!

Even if we only get half the numbers $88 round trip is still freaking amazing. Crossing my fingers.

Added to that the fundraising we are doing to help offset the travel cost for our players, we already have $480 raised and will be doing multiple fundraisers before then and the Auction at Salt War this year will go into that fund as well.

I'd really love to see 54 Desert Winders hit clan and only have to pay for thier event fee and food!!!!

Re:Vans to Salt Wars - 2008/01/27 17:05 Thats what I love to read.
My friends from the IM coming to visit our fair Principality. Kinda brings a tear to my eye.

Everyone jump on this opportunity Rafeki is presenting. A van full of friends makes the drive to visit us that much better.

Besides after the Desert Winds has kicks your lilly non fighting asses you can lick your wounds and commeserate with 9-14 sympathetic voices instead of 1 or 2.

Not to mention it will cost you less and not put milage on your own vehicles.

COME TO SALT WARS!!!!!!!!!

Remember we will feed you each and every meal.
