battle game - 2005/03/31 00:12 - ok, I've been trying to think up a battlegame, something semi-original... and I think I have a decent idea... BUT since I have never made of these before, let alone assist someone making one, I thought I would use some of the knowledge of the IM to help me out. Listed below is my idea... feel free to comment or just plain shoot it down. Constructive critisism is uberappreciated

Conquer the Mountain’ battle-game variant
Axys Anvilfist

This game involves four or five teams of six to eight players apiece, each team only allowed a total of 40 levels between them. Maximum of two spell casters per team. Each team gets a base/Nirvana an equal distance- 75’ from the ‘Mountain’ - a ring @ twenty foot in diameter. The first team to get everyone of their members on top of the Mountain (inside of the ring, with no other teams members inside) gets a count started. The count will continue as long as one member is still within the ring. The way to win this game is to keep possession of the ‘Mountain’ for 5 consecutive minutes. If the first team is defeated, the next team to get all of it’s members inside the ring successfully gets another count started. If, after 30 minutes, there is no team that has held the mountaintop for 5 minutes, the game is called… the team who has accrued the most cumulative time within the zone wins.

The top of the ‘Mountain’ is a Dead-Magic Zone. A spell caster cannot cast while standing within the ring and all enchantments cast outside of the ring, only last for 60 seconds while inside. Spell balls, ranged spells, etc. cannot be cast into the ring as well. Mundane melee projectiles still affect as normal, but things such as a flame arrow only counts as a normal projectile… not with its enhanced abilities. Also abilities like a Monk’s Sanctuary & Scout’s Camouflage are negated by this field.

Re:battle game - 2005/03/31 10:39 Well,my suggestion is, make it a class battle, ditch, or Grand Melee, not more than one. Essentially, you have a grand melee battle within a class battle. I say pick one of those three to start with for the game, then make adjustments accordingly. No one would want to play a spellcaster (I know I wouldn't) with this game.

Also, how big is the "Mountaintop", because I am assuming that you need it big enough for 6 - 8 people to fight inside of it.

P.s. If this doesn't make sense, I apologize. I just woke up and went straight to the computer.

as for making it a grand melee or class battle or ditch... I made this specifically with the mind of combining a melee and class. Mainly to make groups more effective with small unit actions & how to coordinate with each other, moreso than 2/3 man teams will help you... think squad tactics...

PS: don't worry... I'm never really awake
