Question about mimic - 2006/08/08 23:50 When a bard is mimicing a class which gives him extra non activated abilities, meaning the use of more weapons or the option of wearing armor, can he
(1.) use said weapons or armor (2.) If so, does it cost him spellpoints to do so (3.) If it does cost him spellpoints, how much.

Re:Question about mimic - 2006/08/09 03:24 the bard gets to use said armor and weapons... for the duration of that life. now, bear in mind that the bard does not get to use a different spell list, so whatever weapons they plan to use on thier other lives will need to be purchased normally. and the life that is being mimic'd doesn't suddenly get new spells to cast because its weapons were free. Re:Question about mimic - 2006/08/09 16:39 NOW HERE IS A QUESTION FOR BARD. WHAT IF YOU MAKE YOUR GUITAR OUT OF FOAM? WOULD IT COUNT AGAINTS SPELL POINTS SINCE IT IS A REQIUREMENT. FULLY STRIKE LEGAL AND ALL .ADD A COUPLE OF STRINGS AND WHALLA. EL KOBONG!!!!
NOW THAT ID LIKE TO SEE.
ALSO WHAT IF YOU ATTACHED A MELODY CHIP TO A SWORD?
WOULD THE SINING SWORD BE USABLE AS A WEAPON AND AN INSTUMENT?
IT DOES SING AFTER ALL.
ID ACTUALLY PLAY BARD IF SOME OF THESE WERE CLARIFIED TO HAVE SOME FUN WITH A CLASS THAT IS MENAT TO BE FUN

Re:Question about mimic - 2006/08/09 17:43 in the rulebook there is no description for the bardic instrument to indicate it could be used as a weapon,

Garb: Light blue sash, plus must carry a musical instrument

so I guess if it was 1. musical & 2. safe & 3. met a weapon requirement that you paid the points for it would be ok.

however putting the strings on a foam guitar might make it illegal for striking purposes, I guess it would be a case by case basis.

you could also go the other route that it's a garb requirement and not a weapon, so you couldn't use it to strike with (like trying to hit someone with your warrior purple sash, it's just garb nothing happens.)
that wouldn't stop you from carrying a musical instrument AND building a foam guitar that was strike legal and paying the weapon costs for it.
(for example keep a cazoo in your pocket)

Re:Question about mimic - 2006/08/09 23:28 I made an electircal Guitar (looking) Madu for CQ's a year or so ago and then gave it to Jeriah (our local BArd). He's had harden cast on it and used to for purly blocking.

It's fun in ditches however as a madu.
