Re:North Iron Dragon Results*** - 2006/02/27 16:46while i'm pleased my team won, i'm not so keen on the method of scoring used. if averaging the entries was the plan, it should have been made apparent from the start. an overall averaging means that a single item that scores exceptionally poorly can completely screw your final result. and given the nature of this competition, would severely impact the way teams built entries.
i also think that given the extreme divergence from the judges on some items, a drop the highest and lowest should have been implmented, even if there were only 4 judges. that or a clearer statement (to both competitors and judges) as to what hte criteria of judging should be based upon.

Re:North Iron Dragon Results*** - 2006/03/01 10:36you asked me in email how the scores/judging would be done, if I was unclear on anything you had ample opportunity to ask for specific clarification, I apologize if I was misleading in any way. I thought all crown quals involved averaging the judges scores together. It looks like our definitions for standard crown quals are different. I also was told by the man in charge to just average the scores together for a team total score.

its not a big deal, but as i understand it, no, this scoring was nothing like a standard crown qual.
standard quals scoring involves dropping the highest and lowest scores on each item to remove russian judges (and the opposite). then each category has the items ranked within it and scores assigned to each person based on that ranking (how that happens varies from method to method). then the total scores are tallied and the highest score is the winner."But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo

highest score in a category gets +.20 points, 2nd gets +.10 , 3rd gets +.05

Well Totem is pretty much unreachable and there is still no word of any results concerning Iron Dragon South. Should those of us who have not been enlightened to the scores just write them up as a lost cause? I deeply appologize for my oversight. The only excuse I have is that work is a killer. I will be transposing the Data and I hope to post the results today or tomorrow.
