Pants! - 2005/12/16 13:13 I am going to be making some warm lined pants soon, and I need a pattern.

Anyone know of a good pattern ?

That's a pretty open-ended question. Hard to answer without more information like what general style you're interested in, how much sewing experience you have, etc.

Re:Pants! - 2005/12/16 14:01 WOOOHOOO!!!!! PANTS!!!!!!!!

heh....

simple wrap pants:
measure from your waist to the floor. add 4 inches. call this X
measure around your hips. add 8 inches. call this Y.

get two pieces of fabric X by Y inches.

place them together with the pretty side in.

mark the center along one of hte side Y's.

sew a BIG HUGE letter 'U' where that mark is.

it should prolly be about 8 inches across at the top, and about 14 inches tall.

reinforce that U about 4 times with a zigzag stitch.

cut out hte u shape. leaving hte stiches on the pants side ofhte fabric.

done. one pair of wrap pants.

to make em better you can finish the edges (roll and sew them down), add ties, or even sew up the sides of the legs. but its all optional.

oh... use a good STURDY fabric. none of this dollar a yard crap at walmart. you need something that will withstand you fighting on your knees at least three or four times per day of use.

Re:Pants! - 2006/03/09 08:46 So if you got some of those breakaway pants that atheletes wear those make great patters cause you can lay them flat. Just be careful to add a bit for seams and such. It seams that with the exception of the skittle puke pants I made I always end up a adding or subtracting a bit, but those would make a normal not so wrap pair of pants that have natural air conditioning.

Re:Pants! - 2006/03/10 13:43 I dont think we WANT Rewth to have breakaway pants...

I can only imagine the horrors...

If it takes less than 3 seconds for his pants to be off, that is a bad thing.
