The arts and sciences part of crown qualifications must include at least the following categories: 19.B.a.1. Art, 2D (Flat) -sketches, drawings, paintings 19.B.a.2. Art, 3D -sculpture, ceramics 19.B.a.3. Composition -5 pages or less. Persona histories, short stories. Must have 5 copies. 19.B.a.4. Factual writing -5 pages or less. Essays, how-to articles. Must have 5 copies. 19.B.a.5. Poetry -5 pages or less. Poems, songs, free verse. Must have 5 copies. 19.B.a.6. Construction, Armor -Legal Amtgard armor. Judged on appearance, effort and construction. 19.B.a.7. Construction, Passive -helmets, chests, furniture, judged on appearance, quality, and originality 19.B.a.8. I've seen instructional speaking - which I don't feel is bardic, but takes it on the chin for a Rose sometimes.

Re:List of what we can do - 2005/07/12 12:39actaully, i'd put minis painting in 2d art. while the figure is 3d, unless you did the sculpting you are really only applying hte paint. and while some might argue that you are painting a 3d object, i would argue that as well. i'm a fairly skilled mini painter, and you don't really paint the full piece. you tend to paint individual portions of the figure, usually 2 dimentionally, and allow your brush techniques to make use of the 3d aspects of them. same way you can use the canvas to give texture to a 2d painting.
photography i'd definately put in 2d, but i'm very happy to see it treated as its own category when there are enough entries.
instructional speaking... this brings me to one issue i'd actually like to see changed in the corpora list. instead of having "recitation", "singing" and "instramental" i'd rather see "Vocal Performace" and "Assisted Performace" where recitation, singing, instructional, poetry reading, whatever all fall under "Vocal Performance" and are judged together. while group performances, pantomime, instramental, performance art, weapon/martial arts katas, etc fall under "Assisted Performance"
from personal experience i've seen very few cases where any of the bardic categories are heavily entered, and in some cases even contested. so consolidating would be a good idea. additionally, i think its fairly easy to distinguish a piece between "uses only your voice" and "uses props, other people, extensive motion or other crap in addition to or instead of your voice." where the current categories allow for some grey areas and overlap.
flower arranging i'd put in 3d art. and for takezu's experiences with it, i'd include a write up AND a photo in case of accidental disturbance.
caligraphy i'd put in 2d art. and would be hard pressed to suggest it anywhere else or in its own category.
and gardening... this isn't 4H. -evil grin- actually i'd have to know what aspect of gardening they wish to be judged. is it a artistic flower garden i nthier back yard? photo it from many perspectives and put it in 3d art. is it how big they grew thier zuchini? put it in passive construction (heheheh i love that idea) is it how yummy thier sweet corn turned out? put it in food."But right now I'm a little concerned about my pants, since I don't know where they are." - Valathina Nailo

I thought of a couple more - dying - spinning - non- jewelry/non armor metalworking.

as for growing herbs - thats illegal young lady. but otherwise i'm not really sure. problem is, i'm not really sure how i'd judge it in the first place.
