Girls of Amtgard & Casca - 2008/02/09 22:52 Hello all

hehe I just wanted to say in case anyone ever wondered about how useful/successful that calendar might be as a promotional tool...

I think its awesome All of us gamers love to see gorgeous female gamers in garb hehe and fortunately for Colorado Casca was the most attractive in that calendar

That being said, I've played NERO in Colorado for a long time and am reluctant to go changing systems. However, at the very least the calendar got me to come check out the web site, browse through a bunch of posts and watch some of the fighting clips. I don't know if/when I might make it out to check out some of your events, but definitely considering it.

I have seen that Kord & Casca host A&S (armor & smithing?) nights at their house on thursdays, and they are pretty close to my area. I was wondering if that is mainly armor or weapons as well and if it is open to people interested in just checking out Amtgard or if you have some other venue that you prefer potential new players go through. hehe worst case I'd love to make some new friends in the area who enjoy armor / weapon crafting and benefiting from some of their knowledge

Hope that isn't to incoherent

Rick

P.S. Thanks for the awesome calendar!

Re:Girls of Amtgard & Casca - 2008/02/10 17:21 Hi Rick,

We still host those A&S nights; however, they've moved from Thursday to Wednesday, and because of the spotty attendance, have become more or a RSVP kind of thing. Casca is a pretty well rounded artisan, so she can probably give some sort of input on whatever aspect of A&S your interested in. If you're working on weapons, we mostly deal directly with Amtgard tech, but I'm more than happy to give you some input on how to make those as well. There isn't a particular focus of the A&S nights; it's more a night for people to come over with whatever projects they are working on and either get some help and input, or use some tools that may not normally be available to them.

As far as changing systems is concerned... I'd highly suggest coming out at least once to see if Amtgard is something you'd be interested in. Our A&S (and game in general) does have a particular kind of culture to it, and so you might want to make sure that the culture is something that would be of interest to you. The A&S nights might give you a bit of insight into some of the cultural side of it, but a regular park day would be a much better indicator for you of what Amtgard is really like. We play pretty much every weekend, so you can choose pretty much any Saturday to come out and, unless we're elsewhere for a special event, you'll be able to find people there (weather dependent, of course... ) We have the Imperial schedule up in the Announcement forum so you can double check and see if there is anything going on elsewhere that weekend. The Denver group (or actually the Brighton group at present) is called IMD.

If you have any other questions, feel free to post them here, and we'll see if we can answer those for you. Thanks!
Kord

Re:Girls of Amtgard & Casca - 2008/02/11 15:30 Great Thanks for the info! I will get in touch with you guys after reviewing the schedule and finding a day I can come. However, there are two hurdles for me so it may be a bit...1 i work on saturdays currently and 2 I have to work things around when I have my kids (I have 3 kids but only have them 2 weeks at a time since divorce).

Thanks again for the info and prompt response!
