Re:Warhammer Online - 2008/08/25 15:39Turns out that those of us who bought the Collectors edition got a sneak preview this weekend. Here's a few of my thoughts so far.
Realm vs Realm Getting to hop into a pvp instance at 4th level was pretty damn cool. The best part was that it would artificially bump you to 8th lvl just so you didn't feel so out of place. It was a good time. The bad part: "You have entered a RvR area...begins countdown till you're flagged for Rv R." Hmmmm...looks dead around here. Guess I'll just turn around and OMG WHERE DID ALL THE GOD DAMN DWARVES COME FROM!!!!???
Public Quests This, I must say, was the best part of the game I've run into so far. You walk into an area and it pops up that you're entering a public quest zone, it shows you how far into it they are and what the current objective is. Then you just go. No looking for group, you don't even have to say hi. In order to get the loot though, you do have to place. I got a prize for third on my second try and I came in halfway through the quest.
Does it feel like GW? Oh ya. Is it pretty? I thought so (mmmm...witch elves) and it ran rather well on my 2 year old machine. Am I gonna keep logging in and kikin' stunties? Oh hell yeah.

If you can get a key, you can get in. I'm looking forward to the 14th as that's the day that everyone who purchased the Collectors Edition of the game gets their headstart for the live game release on the 18th.
So far, I've given the Goblin squig herder and Shaman a try. Tonight i'm going for a Dark Elf Sorceress. They have an intersting dynamic that when they cast certain spells, they build up dark magic. The more Dark Magic you have, the higher your damage and chance to crit. It also raises the chance that the spell will deal damage to you as well. With a healer at your side you could be blasting other people at 100% chance to crit without even slowing down
If your getting in or are planning on it - start letting us know so we can all get on the same page.

Hmmm...less than half the viruses or 1/100th of the video games and software?
Just kidding. I've just never seen a single thing in the world that would make me want to choose a Mac over a PC. Anyway, the game is out and we're kicking ass. So get it and get in.
